    Hi I just wanted to introduce myself as I finally joined the forum. My name is Jake, and I am in my early 30s. I live in Texas, but I don't really like it, so I hope I get lucky and am able to follow up on a lead I recently was presented with to leave and go work and further my studies abroad. I started using Linux in high school and have used it fairly regularly since then. I have worked and volunteered at the university where I live and it was all theoretical and computational research using terminal and high performance clusters. That means I am not a total beginner, but I'm far from being an expert or anything like that. I have learned a lot the past 4 or so months since I started using Centmin Mod. I hope to have some good discussions with some of you in the future, and feel free to ask anything that isn't out of line for a forum of this nature.

    welcome @JJC84 to Centmin Mod Community. Always great to hear from regular Centmin Mod users as I am sure there's more folks out there :)

    You might want to try the 123.09beta01 build as it will be next stable release and well has alot of improvements if you check 2nd post change log at Beta Branch - Centmin Mod .09 beta branch Testing. And you can share your initial install times here.

    I have read pretty much 80% of the links most of them multiple times because there is so much information to take in. I really appreciate the help though because I know I didn't get anywhere on my own. I can't say exactly how slow my sites were before I started using Centmin Mod, but they were getting page speed scores in the mid 30s and now after I finish and optimize a page they're 95-99 range. Just to be a dork I did a fresh install with the 2017 theme on Wordpress and got the score up to 99 with a total load time of 0.7-0.8 seconds, but I'm sure it can be better than that because I haven't even been using it for six months at this point. People do often ask me about it and I tell them exactly what it is. Just some automation informed by data analysis and definitely in the case of PageSpeed module some deep learning algorithms and that's great to me because I'm integrating deep learning and big data into my research at the moment. I recently decided to get a second IP address for my initial server and I just did a fresh install with Redis, so we will see how that goes and where it takes me.

    I recently went through that article and I probably got too zealous because I definitely put a few too many lines into the custom config file that most likely shouldn't go together. Nginx totally stopped working, so I should have saved the journalctl log, but instead I immediately restored it from an image I created right before that because I knew I was going to break something.

    Just backup the files you edit before making changes :)

    I normally make a backup before I go and radically change configuration files. Learned that the hard way a few years back.

    not using CentOS 7.4 ? much better OS ;)

    I will later they were kind enough to let me demo the low end servers for 3 days and I don't like barely scraping by on system specs. I posted the time in the thread where you asked for us to.
