Email Which (free) Email Provider Are You Using in 2019 (2020)?

    Hey,

    I would like to know which email providers you guys are using (free or paid)?

    I have a small forum and so far I was using Zoho mail, but soon I want to start sending bulk mails. I couldn't find out what their limit/rate is, so I was looking for alternatives and I thought I better ask here.

    What is currently in 2019 (soon 2020) the best and cheapest ways to send bulk emails?

    Any suggestions, advice or feedback?

    Wrong tool for the job. For bulk transactional email sending, you need to use a transactional smtp email provider like SendGrid or Amazon AWS SES Amazon AWS - Amazon AWS SES SMTP Transactional Email Info. I use Amazon AWS SES for all bulk email sending for forums and my servers.

    The only negative about Amazon if i remember correctly was that if you have for e.x 100.000 users you can't send an email to all at once....

    You must send a few thousands and by time expand that number...

    Don't know if that's the case today to be honest...

    You don't want to sent them all at once as receiving mail servers can mark/flag your mail server as spam. That's why AWS and other 3rd party smtp providers don't do that. If you want your emails to be delivered to their destinations, you don't want to send them all at once !

    So when people register on your forum and receive an email or when they get a private message alert email, all these stuff costs, right? Or what is meant by "transactional"? Only it counts when I send mails in bulk?

    So right now Amazon is the best option or what?

    Also AWS SES sending rate limit every 24hr etc isn't fixed, it automatically increases as you send more email and build up a reputation or you can contact AWS SES support and request a higher rate immediately instead of waiting and provide justification as to why you want to increase your limits.

    For my forums AWS SES rate is 250,000 emails per 24hrs at 50/sec send rate.

    Forum email, registrations, bulk email to members, your forum reply email notifications all are sent via Amazon AWS SES transactional service for this forums :) Basically, AWS SES provides you with smtp server and login and you define that in your forum/web app email settings so all email sent via forum or web app go through AWS SES smtp server.

    Added benefit is if you use Cloudflare to hide your real server IP, Amazon SES is only one of 2 smtp service providers who also hide the originating real server's IP address in email headers. Other transactional providers or free email providers will pass the real server's IP in mail headers exposing your real server's IP address and defeat having Cloudflare in front to hide your real server IP address.

    I see. How about mailgun?

    It looks like 10k mails per month is free, but then it talks about 100 validations a month only.

    mailgun is a transactional smtp provider like Amazon SES just it reveals the original real server IP in mail headers unlike Amazon SES. But if you don't mind folks knowing your real server IP address that is fine. But Amazon SES will be the cheapest out there.

    Zoho mail doesn't cut it for me anymore, I am getting limited. I need to move to a real SMTP.

    Can we get the Amazon free 62000 mails they list in their price list when we decide to do that? I don't understand in what circumstance we can use that.
