Like Server :D. SSD new live for that.
nice did you get that 2x2TB SYS server today or had it for a while ? I think @Tracy Perry nabbed one too today.. I was looking at that server on SoYouStart but seems out of stock, so either you or @Tracy Perry took the last ones for the day hehe sweet - which SSD configuration ?
3 x 300GB. Running them in RAID1. You get brand new drives as well with OVH, rather than the re-used ones from SYS Code: ID# ATTRIBUTE_NAME FLAG VALUE WORST THRESH TYPE UPDATED WHEN_FAILED RAW_VALUE 5 Reallocated_Sector_Ct 0x0032 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 0 9 Power_On_Hours 0x0032 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 3 12 Power_Cycle_Count 0x0032 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 4
For something important... that would be a good benefit. For a what I got it for - it's kind of overkill to pay 200% more than what I'm paying now. I actually looked at the Host128... but I had as good of server before and wasn't using it's full potential and the fact it was basically 'wasted" money.
oh that makes more sense.. Yeah true.. over or under provisioned servers are part and parcel with bare-bones dedicated offerings from most web hosts unlike cloud providers where you scale up or down for exactly what you need. Then again for dedicated servers, I'd rather be over provisioned than under
I'm not going to complain.. I've had this server about 22 hours.. so looks like the drives in it (2TB SATA enterprise) are new. This is /dev/sda Code: 4 Start_Stop_Count 0x0012 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 10 9 Power_On_Hours 0x0012 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 22 12 Power_Cycle_Count 0x0032 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 10 And this is /dev/sdb Code: 4 Start_Stop_Count 0x0012 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 10 9 Power_On_Hours 0x0012 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 22 12 Power_Cycle_Count 0x0032 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 10
looks like OVH price increases and new server products sporting the Xeon V3 Haswell cpus and Xeon D cpus are showing up http://www.ovh.com/us/dedicated-servers/hosting/ with 10Gbps connection <- Xeon D added ! I benchmarked Xeon D-1540 here http://www.ovh.com/us/dedicated-servers/enterprise/ http://www.ovh.com/us/dedicated-servers/infra/ http://www.ovh.com/us/dedicated-servers/storage/ http://www.ovh.com/us/dedicated-servers/big-data/ - Xeon E5-2690v3 !
It will be better if they add more servers to Kimsufi and Soyoustart as there it is sooooo hard to get one as always are out of stock
ah same as mine Benchmarks - SoYouStart E3-SSD-3 - Intel Xeon E3-1245v2, 32GB, 3x120GB Intel 320 SSD | Centmin Mod Community
Nice, overall opinion? I think my server is blazing fast with it. Running Centminmod of course, however I haven't configured my 'raid'.. i am using default centmin installation, as i don't really know much there whether its necessary or what.
as you can see from my benchmark review thread linked, it's a solid server although SSD disks are the slower older generation
Cool. I don't have much knowledge when it comes to dedicated servers, I think mine is already set to raid1 without me doing anything.. is this normal? Or would it be me being wrong.
Yes if you have 2 disks it is normal to get as default Raid 1 as it is the best and most common option
I've been using them for over 2 years, super reliable, i rent 2 dedicated vrack server with ssd's, extra internet bandwidth 3Gbps ports on each, IP Load balancer and a NAS.
