I'm still quite happy with Amazon SES after switching from Mandrill, and I'm only paying about $5 per month to send a lot of emails. :D

It was complicated to setup, but not as bad as I thought it would be. AWS is surprisingly well documented and there are plenty of tutorials out there.

so how's everyone doing post-Mandrill on new smtp providers ? Thought I'd bring this up again due to Amazon AWS recent outage and what alternatives to AWS SES are out there for folks just in case.

I'm still thrilled with Amazon SES. The downtime was unfortunate, but to be honest, I didn't see any sign that I was affected.

Many mail providers are changing/changed their price matrix.

Actually, you get in average 10k mails during the 30days trial and then 100mails/day for free.

I skipped the free email services long ago. Postmark has been my go-to for years now, great pricing and deliverability is top notch.

I'm using sendgrid combined with Amazon SES for sending. SES is dirt cheap. Sendgrid I pay $14.95 per month and that gives me 50K emails plus the email marketing stuff (as a bonus).
