    Not yet but I plan to. I've seen some people do it on XF 1 with an add-on before too.

    Will be interesting to see how XF 2.1 handles remote storage providers when there's downtime etc. Usually it's for this reason I prefer local storage on the server. But can see how it will benefit folks with alot of attachments. But it's one reason I strongly limit attachment types and size limits for uploads as I have see first hand how some of my paying clients have had to deal with out of control attachment growth. It is very very costly to get hosting which needs to store alot of attachments - especially if you want redundancy in your disk storage layer i.e. dedicated servers and raid 10 or raid 5 etc.
