Best Roadmap for Wordpress Parent to Subfolder Migration

Hi there,

I've installed CMM on Digital Ocean, changed hostname, added new domain through option #22 + #4 for https only.

I want to work on demo folder until I launch the actual site so I added my static html files to /public folder after I moved all WP folder to /demo subfolder, chaged WP adress and site address as newdomain.com/demo.

Getting 404 on permalinks, which is the most updated guide to follow for wordpress parent folder to subfolder migration? In the end I want to reverse everything since I want to stick on wp.
