    But mostly noticeable on static resources.

    read info posted on Nginx HTTPS / SSL Google SPDY configuration overall SPDY SSL will be faster if you take into account both dynamic + static. There's extra initial SSL negotiation overhead for SSL and SPDY SSL connections but you gain as all resources are served via that same connection as opposed to each request for normal http://
