    I just use Default Installation of OVH, I only customized the partition size and kernel used.

    Here's the running services I have:

    I suspect some of this are not required and is just bloat application installed by OVH Image.
    • rtm
    • named
    • smtp
    • local
    • cleanup
    • hddinfo.pl
    • usage-root.pl
    • check.pl
    • atd
    • mdadm

    Those .pl scripts are probably part of the OVH RTM monitor script.

    check the username of the process ;)
    • named = named = bind
    • smtp, local and cleanup i suspect postfix MTA
    • atd = at for job spooling
    only one you don't need is named/bind unless run own dns not with nsd

    service named stop
    chkconfig named off
