Centmin Mod Wordpress auto installer via centmin.sh menu option 22, already installs by default some Wordpress plugins like Autoptimize/Autoptimize Gzip companion, Sucuri Security etc. See below two examples:
But what additional Wordpress plugins do you always install additionally? Looking to see what other Wordpress plugins are good candidates to add to default centmin.sh menu option 22 Wordpress auto installer :)

For me right now additional Wordpress plugins include:
Share what Wordpress plugins you use. Who knows they may be added to default installation for centmin.sh menu option 22 :D

ACF Pro is the first plugin I install right now. Though I'm planning on going full FSE this year to go almost plugin free! We use few custom MU plugins to disable some WP stuff like remove emoji, jquery from frontend, etc. Our theme build step also optimizes all the theme assets so don't need plugin for that.

Some others I use as per necessity is
    • Plugin Load Filter (could be mistaken with other one)
    • Custom Post Type Permalinks
    • The SEO Framework coupled with a structured data plugin.
    • Disable lazy load. (I enable lazy loading on all images and this plugin disables lazy loading above fold)

Other plugins for our marketing/content folks are
    • Rankmath -> Trying to push to TSF or SEOPress
    • Sendgrid -> In some installations
    • CSV Importer

LS Cache -> Current managed hosting uses this so might as well install this plugin :p but soon moving to CMM hopefully I can persuade others.

I found a sweet plugin few days ago called Torque by Hexydec. Very early but it could be a fully free alternative to Autooptimize.
Also, I found a cool little JS lib called Partytown for deferring 3rd party assets like gtag, truconversion.

    Sucuri Security is free?

Ah yes I use that too :) Only one of the few plugins I paid for :D
Interesting, I'm happy with Autopimize combined with Autoptimize Gzip companion which are both installed by default in centmin.sh menu option 22 installs.
AFAIK, Wordpress 6.x has fixed that for lazy loaded images above fold?
The Sucuri security plugin at Sucuri Security – Auditing, Malware Scanner and Security Hardening is free yes not their service though. Centmin Mod's centmin.sh menu option 22 auto installs Sucuri security plugin out of the box. The Sucuri security plugin can do things like
For example, just updated my Centmin Mod Wordpress blog and got these email alerts which also report the user's IP address etc, date time and user that logged in :)

They do have some cool features but personally i'm trying to move due to their shady behavior in the past :p

Yeah option 22 is <3. One question though, if I have brotli enabled on custom_config.inc do we need the Autoptimize Gzip companion?

I think they had lazy loading enabled by default since 5.6, 5.8. Although they fixed a few things on 6.0, I tried a couple of things like removing all manual lazy tags and wp handle the rest but didn't work. Could be something wrong with my config though.

Autoptimize Gzip companion actually supports pre-compress with Brotli too if PHP brotli is enabled in persistent config file PHP_BROTLI='y' at /etc/centminmod/custom_config.inc

    Maybe it's your style/theme ?

I am running 35 active plugins (a lot, I know) but several of those are ones I have custom-built for my site. In terms of the "big ones" and general-purpose/performance plugins:
    • Cache Enabler
    • Cloudflare
    • Contact Form 7
    • EWWW Image Optimizer
    • Disable Emojis (GDPR Friendly)
    • Disable Gutenberg Blocks - Block Manager
    • Flamingo (Contact Form 7 database/log)
    • Google Authenticator
    • hCaptcha for Forms and More
    • Imsanity
    • Insert HTML Snippet
    • Lightbox for Gallery & Image Block
    • Login Logo
    • oEmbed Plus
    • Open Graph and Twitter Card Tags
    • Schema & Structured Data for WP (looking to replace this due to performance issues)
    • WooCommerce

People seem to recommend the Wordfence plugin as the free security plugin. Does the sucuri plugin included in n.22 wordpress install contain special centminmod sauce? :p

So creating installs with Redis is the most efficient?

Wordfence has a lot of overlap with properly configured Cloudflare WAF/Firewall etc. I mainly use Sucuri plugin for file integrity monitoring and the notification alerts.

You referring to Redis Object Cache plugin? It helps for improving load to MySQL database backend for certain queries.

    Custom built
Not sure if Wordpress 6.0 has natively improved on that?

    Not a Wordpress user anymore.
    But i don't like plugins.

With every Wordpress update (this is even turned on automatically these days).
You are again dependent on updates from the plugin creator.

No update from plugin maker but with the forced from wordpress, you run the risk hanging your site.

Yoast SEO is an ironclad plugin. But otherwise, most small changes can also be made via functions.php, hard coded.

Oh yes. Wordpress recently did have to force a plugin update for Ninja forms 730K WordPress sites force-updated to patch critical plugin bug

Though breaking site functionality is always better than site compromise!

    Disagree.
If a forced update is needed you are often dealing with an administrator who either does not manage or is not capable.

If you keep everything up to date there is nothing to worry about.
Otherwise, you'll be stuck in the same loop.

One solution might be an LTS version. But developers are not so keen on that. Afraid they can't push certain new features.

I'm wondering at the web server level is Redit better of fastcgi in your opinion? For WordPress; There's so many benchmarks I'm getting confused.

It's still down to choosing a bad (break site) or worse option (compromise). If your site/server is compromised, the hacker could delete all data or maliciously insert data/code into the site/server. If you don't know how to deal with that, hiring someone to deal with that is a lot more expensive, than hiring a developer to fix a site's broken functionality due to forced plugin update.

How often is a server really cracked? Many users who don't maintain their sites (for example, the local music association), are often private and are often on shared hosts. Almost all of them on CloudLinux where it's all pretty well sealed.

Essentially Centmin Mod stable is sort of LTS, I don't plan on adding new features besides bug/security fixes where possible. All the bleeding edge stuff goes into 130.00beta01 right now - including EL8/EL9 support eventually :D

PHP-FPM fastcgi_cache edges out Redis cache at Nginx level in default setups due to Redis server using TCP connections and not Unix sockets for Redis. But folks don't release Cache Enabler in Centmin Mod centmin.sh menu option 22 is faster due to one thing the others can't do, that is pre-compress cached HTML content to be served via Nginx gzip_static cache feature which on non-Centmin Mod Nginx installs are disabled by default for gzip_static. I've started looking more into improving Super Cache option in centmin.sh menu option 22 as it has improved and offers close to Cache Enabler in that it can pre-compress cached HTML files. When I have more time will look at seeing if Super Cache option can take over from Cache Enabler.
