Also it seems that the theme breaks the colour of Centminmod....

I think you should figure out how to use the SSH client you select on the corresponding app site, not here. Centminmod is standard ascii with not 'style'. That is set by whatever you are using to access it.
I suggest using MobaXterm as it works fine out of the box.

That looks like another good one to try. I have been satisfied with MoBaXterm but may give this a try for the heck of it. The extended SSH clients are greatly improved in the last few years.

I am using the latest version of Secure CRT...

    Solarized Dark

Under appearance i have only the window option and not the Ansi color.
On appearance next to theme i can click edit and i can see the basic, advanced, ANSI colors..

When i select ANSI it seems ok but after restarting the SecureCRT is reverting back to Basic :(

Both was selected Ansi color and Use color scheme.... I disable use color scheme and seems much better now !

Yes. I enable that and i add my title like www.domain.com and it is ok but when i restart the SecureCRT the tab returns to root@server:~ even if the title bar is selected ....

Just got the fix for that :)

It sounds like the remote system you are connecting to is sending title change requests, updating your tab name. You can configure SecureCRT to ignore these title change requests.

Navigate to Options > Session Options > Emulation > Advanced and enable the Ignore window title change requests option.

Basic Putty is less useful than the SSH clients discussed above. I use MobaXterm and have trialed Secure CRT - these can be used to manage multiple VPS, captive or hosted servers and do stuff like automate tasks using macros.
Besides, they are just cooler! ; ^)

Not sure how the pricing system works for Securcrt, but I recently came across mobaxterm.
Havn't used it myself, but heard a lot of good things about it and from what I heard, it is free.

The free version has enough functionality for a single VPS. Give it a try.
SecureCRT has a free trial period to check it out.

We should have a poll on this thread :).

    I'm MobaXterm user now.
Extremely useful, with lots of great features not available on other apps.

2 days of using and my top favorite features are:
    • Graphical SFTP browser on the Sidebar
    • Follow Terminal Folder
    • Remote Monitoring

It is on my list to try it out, I currently use WinSCP, but from time to time it glitches. I like the poll idea.

I don't know how useful a poll would be because I think there would be few responses. A good poll asks several specific questions. It is easy to look at the product websites for a comparison of features.

After demoing SecureCRT I think I will stay with MobaXterm. They both have good interfaces. A review of SecureCRT says that the SFTP transfer is fast but I don't know if its faster than MobaxTerm and find it fast enough to suit me.

MobaXterm has a multi-session command panel button that is easy to use: Just open up multiple VPS sessions. Each will have a tab. Click on the multisession button and the sessions will form a panel of windows. If you type into any session, it automatically enters into the others. If you want to exclude sessions from executing commands, just click the bullet box on its panel.

SecureCRT is more complicated see: https://www.vandyke.com/support/tips/chatsendcom.html
That doesn't make it easy to send to a selection of servers/sessions. Looks like you have to close those you don't want commands sent and then reopen them.

They both have a macro recording capability. SCRT calls them scripts. I have used that in MXT to a limited extent, just recording often used and long commands such as navigating to a deep file folder and for backups. I should probably make more use of the macro function - it's easy to enter them. You can use the macro function to enter a series of commands. That should be some caution in selecting series to do via a macro as unexpected results may lead to unwanted command execution. I don't know if SCRT can do the same.

There are open source extensions available for a specific functionality of MX: https://mobaxterm.mobatek.net/plugins.html.
I found very limited session control plugin for SecureCRT and could not find a list of downloads on the Vandyke site or Google search. I have installed but have not used the MobaXterm plugins.

SecureCRT shines in its support of older terminal protocols. Many companies (still) use it. If you are working for or with companies that do, then that may sway the decision.

The main reason I am sticking with MobaXterm at this point is I am used to it and I do not see any plusses for using SecureCRT. If anyone with more experience has key plusses for SCRT. Please post them.

@robert syputa thanks for sharing your insights. For me it's more personal preferences for SecureCRT as used it for over 15+ yrs while MobaXterm never got a hang for it. I can do stuff faster with SecureCRT so suits my needs :)

not entirely the same, but you can change the option to send commands to only selected tab groups. You first drag the sessions you want to their own group tab Tips - Using The Command Window To Send Commands To Multiple SecureCRT Sessions or lock the specific sessions you don't want commands sent to

    upload_2019-1-6_21-12-59.png

For most folks they will use whichever SSH client suits their needs best :)
