No idea why but DME geodns costs is why i moved to Route53 for their geo dns latency based dns :)

I am looking for something else because DME:

Won't allow to transfer zones to secondary name servers below every 4 hours.
4 hours is the minimum and therefore useless if you are using any kind of fail over.

Dns fail over removes the failed ip but won't redirect traffic intended for the failed ip to another in case of DNS cache, what most providers do.

yeah need very low DNS TTL and still won't catch dns caching as it's a poor mans version of failover that i used on DME

google search there's a few just i haven't tried them heh.

If you need faster failover you have to do it probably non-dns level via something like load balancer and heartbeat/keepalived setups

Constellix pricing has been made public now Constellix | DNS Pricing. I don't see any pricing advantage for anyone using standard non-geodns based DNS. i.e. std DNS for 1 domain with 10 million dns requests/month would be $5 + 10x0.5 = $10/month or US$120/yr. While DNSMadeEasy has Business plan at US$59.95/yr for 25 domains and 10 million dns requests/month DNS Made Easy - Best Value DNS Prices Only real benefit is if you intend to use geodns DNS with Constellix.

Hmm Constellix is expensive, DNSmadeeasy is priced completely different.
No reason to use Constellix other then if you must use GEO dns for
    different reasons.

As written here Constellix's focus is competing with the large ones in the world (ns1, amazon, dyn, neustar) but can they achieve this?

Competitors are much longer in this market and their services is proven and stable.

Big client won't look at a few $ advantage, when choosing their DNS service. Proven and stability is the main key.

Constellix DNS for geo proximity based DNS was as expected though around that price Constellix | DNS Pricing

edit: ah the preview past invoices I was looking at only DNS and not Sonar ones as the billing page lists all the DNS ones only and Sonar billing invoices were hidden in a iframe scrolldown

Sonar were high but didn't realise it when they weren't charging for it - my mistake !

Oct 2016 preview Sonar bill which was free at time

Apart from GEO DNS, their Constellix service is way to expensive.

Do I need a DNS Provider when visits are low? Max 1000 per day.

Are your guests critical, i.e. max 1000 customers p/d for your webshop or mission critical service providing company?
(i.e. doctors where the site must be always online, so clients can phone, APP etc. If needed right away)

If yes an external DNS provider with monitoring (with more features than a standard DNS service) is recommended.

For low level traffic. I.e. info sites, forums etc etc (without revenue model).

If you ask me. Not needed.
You already got a standard DNS provider from your domain registrar or hoster.
