    Hello

I' m personally using the cloudflare service for CDN + DDOS Protection + DNS both. But i wonder your advices about DNS service providers.

I see latency when use custom dns as you know. If i run with local dns, our latency ping is about 10ms, but about 85ms with cloudflare dns. Our servers located at Turkey my dns providers must be support nearest locations to Turkey. (Middle of Asia and Europe)

I think i will go to use my local DNS with NSD service. :(

Actually, i have 2 question about that.
    1. Should i use the custom dns service provider for best performance ? Or may i use the local DNS server (Based on Seo / speed / performance etc.) Because, when i look our pagespeed on analytics or pagespeed insights, server latency is too high than locally DNS.

    2. If you chooice the custom dns providers, then which one do you advice ?

And what about the cloud DNS services ?

Personally, we have big board like 100K unique visitor/ daily and all visitors coming from same country. So, we are not international website.

I would advice, stick with Cloudflare.
They are my top and only DNS provider, nothing else.
And it's free compare to DNSmadeEasy :).

Same, using PRO plan also here.
But plans doesn't matter with their DNS.

I'm just interesting with that custom name server feature but they don't give this feature as an add-on or cheaper. They offer only on Business Plan and its price is x10 of Pro plan

But i'm thinking that cloudflare or other DNS providers increasing the latency and it is disadvantage for SEO, isn't it ?

Cloudflare DNS already has very low latency.
But having a dns that has high latency is surely bad thing.

Not too sure about DNS stuff. I also use both CloudFlare and DNSMadeEasy, but major Singapore ISP doesn't prefer the POP DME has in Singapore, so on local production sites I still use CloudFlare.

interesting observation there.. probably why DME's solvedns ranking is lower as Singapore DME times are so high ! if you rank by median DNS times, DME ranks 2nd with Singapore pulling it down

    upload_2016-1-5_2-31-11.png

Personally i use DNSMadeEasy and Amazon Route53 (for latency and geodns based requests) for majority of my sites. My less important ones or ones for testing are on domain registrar provided DNS and some have started moving to Cloudflare for DNS only usage bypassing their caching etc.

Fairly small price to pay for Amazon Route53 geo dns and latency dns support to allow centminmod.com main site to be clustered across 16x VPS servers in various countries. So when you visit centminmod.com you will be directed to a server closest to your location most of the time :) And if that server is down, you will be directed to the next closer server :)
fyi, it only takes me 25-45mins to start up a new VPS server + install centmin mod LEMP stack + recreate and populate all centminmod.com site data and server nginx configuration to the new server and it's 99% all automated so can scale centminmod.com as needed :D And I can do this in parallel so could start up 20x new centminmod.com VPS cluster nodes all within the same 25-45min period if needed :)

some of the public/active VPSes in centminmod.com cluster - there's some used as failover backups that auto activate if needed

check your Google Analytic stats if you have any visitors outside your country, then Cloudflare will be of benefit too and well local visitors already will have their local ISP DNS caching the DNS too so not much different for repeat visitors

Just an update, I now mainly use geodns or and latency based dns with Route53 as well as DNSMadeEasy and had a few domains on Rage4 for geodns. But Rage4 has increased their pricing so would cost me 100 euros/month per domain ! So I have moved my Rage4 domains over to DNSMadeEasy's new Constellix DNS with geodns and finer grain geo proximity based dns and it's definitely faster than Route53 for geodns and much more accurate in terms of geo dns routing it seems for me and can even do load balanced pools in geo proximity based records.
Constellix is still free for now just waiting to see what their final pricing is to decide if i should move my main domains from Route53 latency based dns to Constellix Geo Proximity based DNS :)

@Matt tried Constellix DNS yet ?

What are the benefits of Constellix DNS vs DNSmadeeasy?

improved features and technology powering Constellix. They use the same network, but Constellix front end allows more features if you compare their feature set. See Constellix: Faq

    Thanks for your reply Eva.
because there aren't prices for the Constellix services yet.
I suspect that they will maintain the prices of route53, which does almost everyone does.

I was a customer of DNSmadeeasy, it seems as it won''t get mutch development anymore and everything is focused on Constellix.

Probably because DME is stable as a rock with it's years of development and the new stuff being non-RFC compliant would be better off it's own space at Constellix :)

Does they support health checks? Cant find it on there website for sure? rather then it should be there? guess its sonarchecks

+ Does constellix support paypall? just like dnsmadeasy? don't like it to use creditcards here and then if its only a small amount of money.
