It's been a while since i visited https://www.tomshardware.com/ so when I did I noticed how slow the site loads even with me on Cable internet 50-100MBPS download speeds (with VPN/without VPN). So thought I'd run their index page through webpagetest.org page load testing and surprised to see that their index page is 2600+ KB in size with 402 HTTP requests

Definitely an example of what NOT to do if you want any resemblance of fast page load times ! Speed Index for perceived visual render start time was 3816 ms = 3.816s with visually complete in 9.2s but document complete time took 39.111s on Cable 5Mbps connection !

    first 20 HTTP requests

content breakdown including 139 images, 87 js files, and 3 videos !

domain breakdown was huge so limited it to domains with at least 5 requests !

Google Lighthouse report wasn't any better - perceptual speedindex was 6.779s and consistently interactive time actually timed out due to amount of javascript I suspect !

Just thought I'd highlight an example of bad page load speed. You can check your own sites using How to use webpagetest.org for page load speed testing :)
