    Hello folks..

Yes - Want to try them out - but one thing I always do on my debian/ubuntu servers is to use ufw for firewall stuff..

Now - OpenVZ is not full virtualization but container. Will that gives me some trouble to fully utilize iptables functions? Is there others thing I perhaps should have in mind before chose a OpenVZ instead of KVM?

Anyone who care to tell about that - I will appreciate it.

no probs with iptables on OpenVZ or KVM at least for Centmin Mod which uses CSF Firewall which is a wrapper for iptables among other things.

Thanks for your reply @eva2000 - but 512 MB in not enough for the LE3 branch.. Maybe I should have one 09beta install running there.. But first I will test with a Debian and if I like it - take the 09beta way and keep the ramnode.

Oh - The 1000 MB test download from Ramnode Netherlandsto home gave me 28+ MB/sec (max was 32,4).. Thats fine - so that will be the place.

    Code:
    Network information

    Server Location: Alblasserdam, NL
    Test IPv4: 176.56.238.3
    Test IPv6: 2a00:d880:3:1::787:d6bd

    Test files: 1000MB

You can buy DDoS protection, you get a DDoS protected IP which won't be null routed. Something like $5/month IIRC.

Only thing, it doesn't protect you from Layer 7 type of attack.

    Like?
    CT_LIMIT
    CT_INTERVAL
    CT_PERMANENT
    LF_DISTATTACK

I tried them all, I ended up being suspended by Linode even if tried it hiding behind Cloudflare.
Maybe massive HTTP request only can be mitigated by that.

Linode? I was talking about ramnode actually.
I don't have all the setting names in mind, and I'm on my phone atm.

Well there are alot of factors to be considered, if you want something in-depth read the csf readme :p

:p It's very thorough and if you don't want to do that, take a look at csf.conf its comments are just as thorough.

No no, I do want to learn - so I will read up on it.. I do come from, mostly, the debian/ubuntu server enviroment where we have the ufw tools. I'm old so its a little bit more difficult for me to learn new stuff :angelic:..
