Vultr latest announcements on their Vultr Cloud Compute (VC2) platform which include a new Sandbox VPS plan at $2.50/month, more ram and ssd disk capacity, 10Gbit/s in/out network. lower bandwidth overages and free snapshots and a firewall service Vultr: High Performance SSD Cloud.

Seems the Sandbox $2.50/month VPS plans are limited to 2 per account.

$5/month Vultr VPS now has bumped memory and disk space from 768MB to 1GB and disk from 15GB to 25GB. This puts Vultr's $40/month plan in direct feature to price competition with Linode's $40/month plan though Vultr has 4GB more disk space :)

Do we really need a smaller plan than the $5/mo ones?

    it's enticing though
Yeah same here updated a few of my 768MB and 1GB Vultr VPS to the new updated specs :)

Competition is awesome .. now ball is in Linode and DigitalOcean's court. Linode needs more disk space ! DigitalOcean more disk space + faster cpus :)

Also means with 1GB $5/month on Linode and Vultr, for Centmin Mod users can opt for CentOS 7 OS installs now as they meet minimum ram requirements. But not really for disk space heh.

Great to see that the Linode, Vultr and Amazon Lightsail thing can save for the people!

I really like the cheaper plans, actually. It's good to have a reliable provider for testing or a quick microservice that you want to run.

+1 yup, 2017 has never been better for web site operators to start up their site - powered by their own web stack configurations. The wide choices are nice - all we need is more DDOS protection service offerings to be released :)
Indeed. Makes Centmin Mod testing and Centmin Mod's Letsencrypt integration of addons/acmetool.sh much easier for all :)

Nice, I'll test it out first and see how it goes, I intend on setting up some sort of vpn with it, I'd rather control my own vpn than use existing services as there's no way to ascertain how secure they really are. #Paranoia #YouCanNeverBeTooSafeTheseDays

the double deposit bonus is for initial deposit only, so might want to to deposit your vpn server size x 12 months at least or 6 months and so you get 12-24 months worth of credits :)

Vultr also defaults to blocking emails on server at first. You contact support and provide ID verification and they enable emails on your servers going forth by default.

One thing is I have only updated my existing 768MB VPS with 2.4Ghz cpus so far. My 768MB VPS with faster 3.4+ Ghz cpus I have yet to do so, just checking if I will loose my 3.4+ Ghz cpus and get given 2.4Ghz ones heh. Anyone confirm if their existing Vultr 3.4+ Ghz VPS on upgrading to new plans retains the faster cpus or gets downgraded to the normal default 2.4Ghz cpus yet ?

For folks new to Vultr, they started off marketing and using E3-12xx 3.4+ Ghz cpus for their VPS but only time moved those to their Vultr Dedicated Compute VPS with more dedicated resources and left the normal Vultr Cloud Compute VPS to using E5-26xx 2.4Ghz instances No more 3.4 GHZ CPU cores?. Some Vultr users still sit on the older but faster 3.4+Ghz vpses. I believe @Matt Williams has a ton of those instances heh :D

Some folks reported seeing Intel Xeon E5 Haswell 2.4Ghz cpus in Vultr $2.5/m instances. So along with my findings of Intel Xeon Broadwell E5 2.4Ghz possibly, that means Vultr might be using either Intel Xeon E5-2640v4 Broadwell-EP 2.4Ghz or Xeon E5-2630v3 Haswell-EP 2.4Ghz then :)

Downgraded my old instance with 3.6GHz, 1GB for $8/month (old pricing), to the new 1GB for $5/month :D
    The 3.6GHz CPU still there.

I already know that you're limited to 2 instances but is there a limit in performance of some sort for them to call it sandbox or is it just a marketing term?

not sure on those sandbox vps. You should test and compare with their new 1GB vps instances ;) :D
