Perhaps a little old news but:
Vultr launched a completely new Optimized Cloud Compute product line, along with a refreshed Cloud Compute lineup of virtual machines.
The launch was +-2 weeks ago.
Hopefully someone has had the time to test these new virtual machines (VM)?
Am curious to see how these VM's perform but unfortunately, have absolutely no time to test myself.

It is very similar to the portfolio of Digitalocean but with Third generation AMD Epyc (Milan) at Vultr. Digitalocean is on the previous, second generation AMD Epyc.

That's right, and with a VPS you always have to deal with neighbours. Also what you see more and more these days is I/O throttling. NVMe is nice, but if it is compressed to a few MB/sec. It is of no good use to you. And just a marketing term to lure you in.

    From another topic:
Why would you want to hide and shield it uberhighly with an older model?
The use of generation 3 EPYC's Milan is a unique selling point.
Is it really masked by Vultr or are they just using generation 2, Rome?

Could be just they haven't updated the KVM profile of what is reported and the CPU flags that are passed from KVM host node to guest servers?

    First time AMD for Vultr.
So not updated the EPYC-Milan-v1 CPU model configuration in Qemu (if using).
    Seems strong to me.

Perhaps one organization wide older Qemu version is used for all servers (new and older) that does not yet know Milan CPU configurations. But with an updated kernel, it does work properly.

Most VPS providers are on Debian/Ubuntu as host OS.
And you can easily install an Hardware Enablement (HWE) kernel there.

Ah yes that could be a factor! Here's hoping Vultr will update that :)

But of course it could also mean something else.
That they are also using version 3 of EPYC. But particularly EPYC version 2.
This may just be typical marketing. There are, of course, also clever people there :)
