    If you are an EU located customer, you need to pay Cross-border VAT. The biggest nonsense but welcome in the EU. To my knowledge Vultr, Digital Ocean, etc etc.
    They all count EU Cross-border VAT.

    But why should an EU citizen pay EU Cross-border VAT, if he/she do business with an American, non European company ? Like Digital Ocean etc.

    Thanks for your suggestion. As AMS-IX does have multiple datacenters for their connection services. Any specific Amsterdam datacenter in mind?

    Anyone else?

    But of course 10 days is not really representative.

    I stopped using it. I was seeing how it was, it's on my very short list to use again.

    I overdid the backup schedule, the cost *projected* was pretty harsh. IIRC I was using a daily, weekly and monthly hold for 3 months. Essentially a bill for the backup per hour, that was the problem when comparing services... Bloody fast though :)

    I've left my account open because I might do a weekly local and hourly remote, as bandwidth is cheaper than disk ;)

    I have zero performance or network issues. I wasn't measuring steal or continuous load tests.

    Still using upcloud and it is the best server provider.
    No problems, fast, nordic :D

    0.00305 $ Backup resource (50 GB) for period of 1 hour, Per hour, Per Node.
    Then by each day held, so a 7day schedule cost (0.00305*24)*7 per day, so about $3.59 per week on a $20 per month node. I think that is how it appeared to be going from my memory.

    If it was a critical box and not a test box that cost is fine of course.

    So more than the 10% charge from linode/DO etc, but a better service, i.e. more more flexible, faster, more frequent, just a bit confusing.

    I can recommend Upcloud.
    However, it is difficult to choose with the VPS price war (Linode, Vultr) going on.
    Linode, Vultr. Have recently become much cheaper (up to 50%).
    So you have the same for much less, or 2 servers and thus HA for the same.

    About Uplcoud now.
    Accessories are apparently a major factor of their earning model.
    The pre-configured servers are priced like Digital Ocean et al.

    But if you add accessories, it will go quick.
    For example a relatively simple L3 firewall , almost 5$ extra per month
    (50 % of pre-configured server 1). 1 extra IPV4 almost 3$ extra).

    Configuring your own server $21.21, the same pre-configured server 1 is $10 (50+ % extra) 1 extra CPU almost 9 $ extra. Same goes for 1 GB extra RAM memory, almost $10 extra.

    Although I can confirm @Colin with more: more flexible, faster more frequent.

    I've read many people praising them but saying they weren't cheap

    Just migrated a couple of my Linode VPS over to Upcloud to see what they are like. Impressed so far.

    How many vpss you have /had with linode and which specs?
    You guys have lots of traffic in your websites?
    What do yoy guys host?

    These were hosting my own site. I had it split over 3 VPS, but consolidated into a single one (each one was the $5 VPS from Linode).

    Do you make use of a CMS or its a self coded website ?
