@eva2000 are you still using DNSmadeeasy?
    With Round-robin and DNS FAIL-OVER?

As Constellix DNS is available for a while, and of course the fact that there are several other options beside DNSmadeeasy and Constellix DNS.

Is DNSmadeeasy still the best choice if you don't use GEO query's?

Yeah for non-geodns I use DNSMadeEasy for important domains and for other test domains or not so important use Cloudflare DNS for testing.

GeoDNS, Amazon Route53 still for important domains and for unimportant/test domains for GeoDNS use Constellix

    Thanks m8.
Because you have experiences with many DNS providers.
    About Amazon Route53 et al.

What is their price range for 600 000 query's per domain per month, without GEO DNS.
Domain registered externally, Health checks and ip fail over on 2x IPV4 and 2x IPV6 per domain zone.

see AWS | Amazon Route 53 | Pricing
    • I assume you mean IPv4/6 failover 2x IPs means primary and secondary ips for 2 domains, so 2 health checks for primary ip with failover to secondary ip ? basic health check is 30s interval and fast interval is 10s interval so $0.75/check/month for basic and $2/check/month for fast interval. So 2x $0.75 for basic = $1.50/month or 2x $2 fast interval = $4/month
    • 2x600k queries std = 1.2 million = 1.2x $0.40 = $0.48
    • 2 domain zones = $0.50 first + $0.10 2nd = $0.60
    • so between $2.58/month to $5.08/month for basic or fast interval health checks

    Great thanks for your time.
Why are you not using all of your domains on Route 53?

Jup only 3 by default, which of course is very strange :) (odd number)

BTW let me guess you still can't select and use the same DNSmadeeasy health-check within the same zone,
    on another IP 4?
    For example 2 IP4's on server A, 2 IP4's on server B using Round-robin DNS.

2 health checks overall, monitoring on sub domain, 1 health check for server A and 1 health check for server B.
To monitor and cover all IPS with the fail over feature.

not sure i understand what you're asking ? health checks are per DNS records not per DNS zone.

So if you need failover and heathcheck on domain.com DNS A record you would specify up to 4 additional location ip failovers in monitoring/failover section

this is just for domain.com DNS A record

    upload_2016-11-3_15-21-10.png

i can setup failover for blog.domain.com DNS A record separately as it's per DNS record not DNS zone

So if you used DNS round robin with domain.com with 2 DNS A records, you'd set failover monitor on each DNS A record

oh, i think you're after Configure DNS Failover with Round Robin - Welcome to DNS Made Easy TutorialsWelcome to DNS Made Easy Tutorials ?

Sorry my fault for the bad message.
I meant that you need to use multiple failover dns records, for each record a new one.

While theoretical you can use the ip address failover status check for other ip addresses on the same network card.
that makes sense for dnsmadeeasy because they can earn more as you need to buy more records.
but actually it does not make sense as you monitoring the same network card twice, or four times at once.

true, but that's how DME makes more $$$ :)

though in my case, you could have subdomains off different servers so failover monitor is uniquely for each dns record where main domain and subdomain have different primary IPs/servers

Constellix is going to start charging soon based on Constellix | DNS Pricing
my April 2017 would look like for 2 domains with one with GeoDNS enabled dns

    upload_2017-4-13_18-54-34.png

This is relative to DNSMadeEasy GeoDNS cost at US$660/yr per domain and currently what I am paying for 6 domains with 2x Geo Latency based at AWS Route53 at ~ US$23/month with ~2.6 million dns queries

Based on rough calculation of my actual usage, Constellix GeoDNS vs AWS Route53 Geo Latency would be US$21 vs US$23 per month hehe

Constellix is faster for DNS and for GeoDNS has more finer grain control down to per city direction of traffic so useful if you use non-AWS region server origins i.e Dallas, TX doesn't have an end point in AWS Route53 if you also use Geo Latency based DNS (instead of GeoDNS) while Constellix I can fine tune traffic to be directed to Dallas, TX server for users close to that location via Geo Proximity zone/filters.

Switching from AWS Route53 to Constellix DNS might be a bit tricky as no dns provider supports AWS Route53 advanced dns records like failover or geo dns/geo latency Import Domains with API Key - Constellix Knowledgebase

Do not trust DNS Made Easy. They are fraudsters. They advertising trial period, but this isn't.
Once, you open account, they send you a message: Changes to services and usage will not take the effect until your purchase has been completed. Click on "Finalize" to complete your purchase. If you click on finalize, they charge you and if you want to cancel in trial period, they will tell you that they cannot refund your money back.

    This is fraud!!!

Weird first I heard of such. When I had a trial, it was a real 30 day trial. What changes to service and usage exact will not take effect ? What did you change or enable feature wise if any ?

Glad to hear. Shame you had a bad experience with them as they are an excellent DNS provider and I still have my account and some domains with them :)
