Sysadmin Has anybody tried Zimbra

What is your mail volume per day? on those domains combined?
As Zimbra is Collaborative software, it its a bit of a heavy load for the mail task only.

If it is not mission critical and not too much of volume, I can recommend Mail in a box in advance. In addition to the default mail components. Mail in a box offers:

 

Zimbra is not easy to manage in compare to cPanel, Mail in a box or Centminmod.
And expensive for low email volumes (For single server installations, a minimum of 8GB of RAM is required.)
Mail in a box is a bit like Centminmod.
Rent a VPS server, follow the instructions, add a domain (with users), and you're ready.

Follow this setup guide or the video edition of the setup guide below and you are all set and done.



Afterwards you can manage your server via the admin panel.

 

As i can see on the video he uses ns1 and ns2 nameservers for the domain.

If i use Cloudflare for my domain how can i set that to work?

Also hostname and main domain will point to the main server....

Mail in a box uses her own nameservers. You can use your own external DNS.
But thats not recommended. There aren't that much providers that could support TLSA Records for DANE.

Cloudflare isn't recommended as it doesn't support the DANE protocol yet.
But you can still use CloudFlare's DNS without DNSSEC or DANE TLS.

In theory, but I did not test that.
It also has little use because Mail in a box is focused on safety and security.
And that, of course, is largely gone by not using DANE.

If you still want to use external DNS. Then just setup your server. Surf to the admin section via the servers IP address /admin, tap on System > External DNS and copy all the DNS records to your external DNS provider.

Finally the hostname and main domain are the same apart from the fact that you can only enter the admin web panel via the hostname. In short the hostname/subdomain is for management.

Please remove your ip address (plain text). As it could be scraped by spambots.
It seems that your domain has HTTP proxy (CDN) and DNS enabled.

So not only your DNS but also traffic will go trough Cloudflare.
You need to use the DNS feature only, in case of Cloudflare, otherwise your traffic is proxy-ed and can't reach your mail server. Also don't forget to setup Rdns (reverse DNS) at Linode, otherwise your mail will be marked as spam.

P.s. you will never pass all checks because you are using external DNS services.
Please keep that in mind.

And what is the purpose and subject of your forum? As mail providers are very strict in accepting mailing.

 

5000, you should have told that before. All own mailservers without a good and long lasting reputation.
Are easily marked as spam when sending low quality mails i.e. notifications over and over again. (I.e. A comment on the forum has been posted, click here to go review.)

 

Could be. You do not know exactly how Gmail or Hotmail established the reputation of your server, domain, ip etc.

But I know examples of practice where 200 or 500 low quality forum mails per day are already too much. Building a reputation with a domain, ip etc can take a very long time.
