no no, raid 0 is not for production usage it has no redundancy like raid 1. Raid 0 if disk fails you loose all data unlike Raid 1

I use the raid 0 for file transfers or temp storage which needs faster sequential disk performance.

 

still new to SoYouStart partition manager so not sure, i just selected custom install, and selected partitions

wow totally forget how expensive IP addresses are !

looked at 8 additional IPs for SoYouStart server and that's US$3/ip per month so 8 additiona IP addresses is 8x3 = US$24/month

Going to playing with KVM virtualization with 6-8 KVM VPSes

So that's like total cost of US$56/month + US$65 setup for server and US$24/month for additional IP addresses = US$80/month + US$65 setup for ability to play with 6-8 KVM VPSes. Sort of defeats the purpose cost wise in doing it yourself as opposed to just buying KVM VPSes heh

 

curious @Matt @RoldanLT @GhoHan are any of you folks using SYS/OVH's free 100GB (for SoYouStart) or free 500GB (for OVH) backup FTP space ? what kind of read and write speeds you getting via FTP and/or NFS/CIFS ?
