    the ssh is very slow first time i connect.. after it loads the last login it can take up to a minute sometimes.

    i suspect it's the motd, that checks updates and what not - how can i disable these?

    also manually time run the kernel check script at tools/kernelcheck.sh will also tell you how slow it is
    Code (Text):
    cd /usr/local/src/centminmod
    time tools/kernelcheck.sh

    Example
    Code (Text):
    time tools/kernelcheck.sh

    ===============================================================================
     system kernel is up to date, nothing to do
    ===============================================================================

    real    0m3.234s
    user    0m2.421s
    sys     0m0.180s

    ~3.234s to run for me

    yeah looks fast so maybe not kernel check that is slow ?

    you can try manually running the motd script triggered at ssh log in too
    Code (Text):
    time /usr/local/src/centminmod/config/motd/dmotd.sh

    5.867s looks fast to me
    Code (Text):
    Total Git & Nginx Check Time: 5.866512904 seconds

    if you run it a few times it will vary though

    not really if you want potential security and software update alerts for kernel and nginx and centmin mod updates otherwise 99% of centmin mod users (many of which don't frequent the forums or site) will not know there are updates available !

    Any idea why it's taking so slow now? I have other servers, and even this one didn't use to be this slow before. Something new that was updated in centmin? I do regular updates.

    try to do a fresh Centmin Mod code replacement by wiping /usr/local/src/centminmod as outlined similar to update guide here for older than .07 releases.

    replace branchname with branch you want either 123.08stable or 123.09beta01
    Code (Text):
    branchname=123.09beta01
    cd /usr/local/src
    rm -rf centminmod*
    git clone -b ${branchname} --depth=1 https://github.com/centminmod/centminmod.git centminmod
    cd centminmod
    ./centmin.sh
