OVH is a great company, they have nice dedicated machines, so we bought 8 of them.

Startup was not as promised 120 seconds, but with their 3DS Option as payment and several other things it took quite a bit longer. Even their support, if you treat them nice, they are willing to do the same. I called several times, had a no, this is not our task as answer, but they gave me great support.

Only issue is the next one, that even their suport and all pages on the internet can't solve and yes, Centmin is the reason.

Every time we start to build it up, nice, super fast because we have a lot on scripts and the installation time is fantastic.

BUT: we start with a working SSH KEY and once we install Cenmin they simply don't work any more. We can only login with the root user and a password.

SecureCRT shows us on the login after the installation this:
    Project_CMM_7331.png
Only pressing Skip, login with the root and the password received by email, and we can login.

Question: How to resolve this installation Issue after the installation of Centmin? It's not so nice to have that after some hours of work and SFTP won't work, login not secure..

I haven't owned a server there in probably about a year, but I never had an issue with keys on my dedicated server I had there.

Did you set the key in the OVH control panel or do it in the sshd_config file on the server? I never used the key option in the OVH control panel. I would always install centos, switch login over to keys, install centmin mod, then change the ssh port.

Both, in the panel, their documents tell that and afertward even created a new key, added it manual to to ~.shh/autorized_keys. But eve then it simply won't work.

Let me start with your first one, simply remove it from the Control Panel, that has so many outdated images on their manuals that you don't know where to go. Attempt #*:

I'd just skip entering any keys with OVH in their panel or wherever. Just deal with the server and the sshd_config file and you should be fine.

OVH doesn't spend too much money on creating guides for customers from what I've found.

How did you create the SSH key ? What type of SSH key you created esa/ecdsa/ed25519 ? What format is the SSH key as not all SSH keys are created equal.

make sure your SecureCRT config is using a session specified SSH key and not a Global account SSH key as you could be using the wrong SSH key.

I really tried everything mentioned above, Google, support, but still the same issue. And it's my default key that I use everywhere. Even created a new keys, but no go.

Yes, they all work until I install CMM

Even https://www.diffchecker.com/diff tells these keys are the same

@eva2000 Will try later on. Just installed again on a server, other server I installed VMware ESXi 6.7, other ISPConfig that does cluster (made it work with autoinstaller NGINX or arian christian or so in the past).

@Jimmy Try your option now on a clean install, nothing, no SSH

@eva2000 & @Jimmy Love you both a lot :) Together with some others that are real community folks!

I have 08 servers now extra and I have 24/months to solve this issue...:(:(

Hi @eva2000 I did what you asked, noting is working the way it should, it works until I install CMM

For the rest I had some fun with the other machines, but I did not rent them for playing with Ubuntu and VMware to start up a Windows 10 Pro.

Here is the output of the trace.
I hope you can pin point me in the correct direction. I need it working with keys for SFTP, I don't use FTP so I can't do nothing with them without a working key.

If someone could be so nice to give me a step by step to follow guide to create the keys in puttygen and save the to ~/.ssh/auto_keys. Thanks!

looks ok from raw trace output of your SSH connection, sees the USERAUTH_FAILURE for publickey authentications until you attempted to successfully use password login.

Can you link to your OVH guides you followed to add additional SSH keys ?

OVH Guides??? Outdated.. Last night again trouble VMS - Visual Monitoring System - OVH

Case resolved, i'm only 2 o 3 day client there, REFEFUND.

Other problems, we are open from 08:00 until ..... Canada time or so...

If I login on ovh.com/wolrd I get redirected to a spanish site, if I call them in Canada I get French waiting voice, speak to some one with another Nationality, just like me.

So yes, OVH WORLD is simply the best to make any confusion there is.

So what are you steps in generating an SSH private/public key pair ?

I just tested ssh key authentication on Centmin Mod 123.09beta01 installed servers and works fine either doing it manually via ssh-keygen or via securecrt create public key tool in OpenSSH new format.

Example via securecrt create a ECDSA 256bit public key format using native tool in OpenSSH new format uploaded screenshots to Media gallery album I created at https://community.centminmod.com/media/albums/securecrt-ssh-key-tool.15/

    @eva2000 & @Jimmy
Both tricks worked. Now I'm happy again. SSH key is working

@eva2000 think I sent you latest image galary to OVH, they "might" want to use it as a new manual, as it seemt that they are too lazy to make their own and it could attrackt more new users intersted in CMM

    Again, thx both!

Only OVH told me, sorry no ~REFUND~ you installed a OS and that makes it VOID.

They are in Canada, differente rules.

I`m in Brazil, and here they don't care about privacy or anything else. (next year it will change, they will be more strict like the US).

So Private (or Public, I'm in Brazil) Message to these persons of OVH that might sneak here, prepare yourself.. OVH will receive some bad negative news...:)

so it was just OVH instructions not working for SSH key creation and setup ?

Yes, but other Question, how to speed up SFTP a bit with SecureCRT, what chippers to disable?

If you have time, want you give me some info about that, it's a bit slow.

No need to disable but re-order priorities, you can see the key exchange mechanism, key algorithm, send/receive cipher negotiated from your SecureCRT trace option output you posted above https://community.centminmod.com/th...alation-of-centmin-with-ovh.18736/#post-79669.
