    Hi guys,

Title pretty much says it all. I currently have a XF 1.5 Forum running on Apache and I intend to move to XF 2.1 running on CMM (already have setup server with CMM).

What would be the recommend route?
Upgrade while on Apache and then move to CMM (with NGINX rewrite rules added) or move first (adding NGINX rules) and then upgrade here?

P.S. A quick summary of required tasks can help.
Edit: I already have newer themes and add-ons for XF2 (working in a temporary install) so no issues there.

I would move first, make sure things are working properly and then perform the upgrade on the CMM server.

For major upgrades, never do major upgrades on actual live forum data. Always do test upgrades on a test copy of the live data on a test staging install. So you can treat the new Centmin Mod server as the test staging server and migrate a copy of your XF 1.5 data to Centmin Mod server and do test upgrades on that. As long as you don't change domain's DNS, then Centmin Mod server's copy of XF 1.5 data and test upgrade to XF 2.x, will always just be a test staging copy upgrade. If you mess up, no worries, just wipe the Centmin Mod server data and reload fresh and try again with another copy of XF 1.5 live data on Centmin Mod server. At no stage do you touch your existing live XF 1.5 working forum until you perfect the upgrade process and everything is to your requirements.

That's how I do all forum major upgrades for myself and my paying clients for the past 16+ yrs for both vBulletin and Xenforo forum instances. It's how I will be doing this forum's XF 1.5 to 2.1 upgrade eventually too. Easier with Linode as you can one click clone entire Linode VPS server to get identical copy for staging test Xenforo and software major upgrade tasks without touching the live Linode VPS :D
