Back on April 2, 2014 disabled axel download accelerator which allowed faster multi-threaded downloads compared to wget however centos 6 rpmforge yum repo for axel provided axel 2.4 which broken and resulted in 'too many redirect' errors when attempting downloads via axel command. CentOS 7 provided axel via EPEL with axel 2.4.9 and that works. So I now have found axel github repo at https://github.com/eribertomota/axel which was linked to from Fedora's site for their axel package http://rpms.famillecollet.com/rpmphp/zoom.php?rpm=axel.

So Centmin Mod 123.09beta01 and higher shall get axel 2.5 source compiled and should speed up initial Centmin Mod installs dramatically for slower network connectivity systems. It should speed up php tarball and nginx pagspeed psol tarball downloads alot so will help with nginx and php upgrades for new versions as well.

How much time saved ? Could be as much as 100-200 seconds on slower single threaded wget compared systems !
