- For EL9 Linux systems like Rocky Linux 9 or AlmaLinux 9, PHP-FPM is incorrectly compiled against Nginx's OpenSSL 1.1.1w library due to a bug in the backport patch routine that makes PHP 7.4/8.0 compatible by using custom OpenSSL 1.1.1 and bypassing EL9's system OpenSSL 3.0.7. This backport bug leads to PHP-FPM signal 11 segfaults in OpenSSL functions. Diagnosis was via enabling PHP-FPM core dumps and gdb backtracing.
