Benefits of using separate partition for MariaDB?

Is this starting slash a typo?

    Code:
    \cp -Rpf /var/lib/mysql/* /mysqlmariadb/

starting slash disables the cp alias for -i (interactive/prompt before overwrite command)
existing cmd aliases on CentOS 7 installed Centmin Mod install
    Code (Text):
    alias
    alias cmdir='pushd /usr/local/src/centminmod'
    alias cp='cp -i'
    alias egrep='egrep --color=auto'
    alias fgrep='fgrep --color=auto'
    alias grep='grep --color=auto'
    alias l.='ls -d .* --color=auto'
    alias ll='ls -l --color=auto'
    alias ls='ls --color=auto'
    alias mv='mv -i'
    alias postfixlog='pflogsumm -d today --verbose_msg_detail /var/log/maillog'
    alias rm='rm -i'
    alias top2='glances'
    alias which='alias | /usr/bin/which --tty-only --read-alias --show-dot --show-tilde'

Maybe Eva can enlighten us more on this? :)
I just read some articles that having separate partition for Mysql has performance gain and benefits.

it's more separate disks not partitions back when SCSI/SAS/SATA limited disk IOPs to 100-250 - but nowadays SSDs easily can do 10-20x times and higher in IOPs

not much though for system monitoring and diagnostics having it on separate partition/device comes in handy when you want to know where the disk I/O load is coming from

Yea, it would be nice if they gave the discount for as many months as the customer wanted to purchase. Half price for 12 months... that would be a deal. Still, since you can cancel at anytime, it's a nice deal. :)

Yeah 50% off for 3 months is only effective 13% discount over 12 months though heh.

Good for folks doing limited time testing though :)

I still like the gaming servers with the 4.0 GHz processors.

I was looking at the $116 server with 64GB of RAM and 3x300GB of SSD. Nice and fast, plenty of space. The gaming server I was looking at only has 32GB and 2x240 SSD.

Always tempted by 4ghz just for centmin install testing server for speed of source compiles.. = faster centmin mod beta testing :) Just can't justify the cost right now - maybe later when Premium memberships take off :)

The prices are not too bad, which one would have best CPU/work best with Nginx etc?

I turn on when I see "Threads: 12" lol.

    Zare has E5-1650v3 (the newer version) for £135.00/m but 10TB Bandwidth & 2 x 240GB instead of 2 x 480GB.

really depends on your usage needs, cpu or memory intensive or disk or bandwidth/network throughput intensive etc

    Just compare the price :).
If I were you I would choose the MC-32 plan.
    Very fast CPU!.
I'm using that plan for my own forum for 5 months now.

Core for core clock speed is definitely high at 4.4ghz! I thought @eva2000 did some benchmarks with findings that reflect that newer CPU architecture nets better SSL performance. Plus the MC-128 is actually an e5 Xeon with more cores and threads.

    Interesting.

    I have this: http://i.imgur.com/6lwcTmf.png

Is the gaming one better in total? I don't ever use 64GB Ram.. Max 4 lol. Same with storage..

Gaming doesn't use server grade hardware, but does have the faster processor and better Anti-DDoS. Anti-DDoS vs. Anti-DDoS GAME which has 2-way mitigation and covers L3/L4/L7.

Would it be better to host a site on then?

    I host websites, nothing else.

It's hard to say what is better. Both will serve your needs. Gaming is cheaper and faster if that's important to you. If you're using another DDoS service than that might not matter to you.
