Yeah - Maybe I should cancel my current two and instead get 2 new ones.. The oldest one is a Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-1620 0 @ 3.60GHz Cores : 8 and goes back around year 12/13 but have served me well..

I've only just finished paying the setup fee on one of mine, so it's not worth me swapping out out, otherwise I've wasted £100 on that over the last 6 months (bought it just before they removed the setup fee on the 2015 range). Will be good when I need to provision another one though :)

Well only reason i'd personally jump on the newer processors for improved encryption and decryption performance as it benefits sites using SSL and HTTP/2. Otherwise, even that E5-1620 has alot of power these days !

You can see from @Ahmad's newer Intel Xeon E3-1240v5 Skylake vs my older Intel Xeon E3-1240v3 Haswell based benchmarks for SSL and OpenSSL at https://community.centminmod.com/posts/24321/
    That's a 5th generation versus 3rd generation difference, so imagine the 1st generation v1 gap !

Ah that pesky setup fee !

They've offered those for awhile. It's the first I've seen of the conf filter, which just shows you what dedicated servers they already offer.

@Matt they ended up those setup fees awhile ago. My first server I purchased there was a setup fee, which was waved because I purchased it on Black Friday about 1 year ago. I know soyoustart (ovh company) still has the setup fees. Setup fees suck!

IMO the best bang for the buck in the $100ish range is SP-64-S w/ the SSD at one point it was impossible to get one of those. It seems like they've launched a ton more... I no longer see the "soon" for its deployment time.

Another reason I love and promote OVH is that you can get a TON of dedicated IPs if you want. $3 as a one-time setup fee is a lot better than most others who charge you per month. Whenever I get a server I get 5 dedicated IPs right away. $15 one-time. If I keep the server for 10 years, it's still just $15.

Nope. Just purchase them in the control panel.

yeah known about their ip pricing, just never bothered as I assumed they had ip justifications in light of global IPv4 shortages heh

I would've thought the same thing. I've never purchased more than 5 IPs. So, maybe justification kicks in at a certain point. Of course, they are a huge company and probably have a very large allotment... IDK.

Yeah currently only have my one E3-1245v2 3x120GB SSD with SoYouStart but thinking about an OVH one or switching. 4790K is on my mind due to high clocks 4-4.4Ghz which is perfect for Centmin Mod full install testing and source compilation speeds :)

That $79 price point is really nice for the 4790.

They did have that.. Before the 'free count IPs' you could only have 4-failover IPs. If you want more then you have to go through this RIPE application thinggy.. I do love the new way to get further IPs - as @Jimmy said - today, its just $3 for extra new IP. I mean I have read somewhere that you can get up to 16 IPv4 before ip justifications - I can't find it so can't document it either.

@Matt that sucks. I hate the whole idea of setup fees... what exactly are they setting up? LOL!

The only thing about OVH that I hate is the guaranteed bandwidth 250 for a lot of their plans. Whenever I see the 250 Mbps I get a shiver down my spine. I realize that is outgoing only and there is a burst, but still. I have a cloud VPS there right now and whenever I download a backup to my local machine, it takes down my site.

Picked up a Host32L last week with 2 480GB SSD's in it and installed CentOS 7 and the BETA branch of CentMin on it - and finally got all the mail stuff configured (virtual domains and all that jazz). Like it so far... but shortly after getting it is when they had the network issue that impacted about 75% of their infrastructure... and just happened to be at the time I was working on major config changes.. thankfully I was using screen!
Moving the sites off of my old SYS E3-SAT3. I'm debating keeping the old SYS one, or just getting another equivalent at OVH.
