thanks @Jimmy, never done a time transfer before so good to know :)
I wish it wasn't only 1:1 I have 2 of them. I might have to start annoying them into giving me credit for both servers... that worked last time.
wow never seem Amazon S3 that fast probably because OVH BHS is stones throw away from Amazon S3 Virginia datacenters which has great connectivity. Most of my Amazon S3 are US West located heh. also probably because i use s3cmd instead of aws official command line binary. s3cmd breaks the large files into separate parts for transfer
I used to use s3cmd as well but haven't since the move to the new servers. Centos 7 makes it a lot easier to use awscli due to python version. I haven't gotten less than 100 MB/s so far since moving to OVH.
Ah got to test that then on my OVH server - s3cmd vs awscli my S3 trio Code (Text): installing tools for Amazon S3 install awscli, s3cmd & s3-parallel-put & boto help & usage info /usr/local/bin/aws help /usr/bin/s3cmd -h /usr/bin/s3-parallel-put -h setup aws credentials us-east-1 Northern Virginia us-west-1 Northern California us-west-2 Oregon eu-west-1 Ireland eu-central-1 Frankfurt ap-northeast-1 Tokyo ap-southeast-1 Singapore ap-southeast-2 Sydney sa-east-1 Sao Paulo cn-north1 Beijing Bucket Location: us-west-2 AWS Access Key: ******* AWS Secret: ******* Setup s3cmd Pass Phrase: ******* setup boto created /root/.boto boto setup completed setup s3cmd created /root/.s3cfg s3cmd setup completed going to have a play on my OVH server reminds me that i need to update region code list so can select ca-central-1 Canada Code (Text): us-east-1 Northern Virginia us-east-2 Ohio us-west-1 Northern California us-west-2 Oregon ca-central-1 Canada eu-west-1 Ireland eu-west-2 London eu-central-1 Frankfurt ap-south-1 Mumbai ap-northeast-1 Tokyo ap-northeast-2 Seoul ap-southeast-1 Singapore ap-southeast-2 Sydney sa-east-1 Sao Paulo cn-north1 Beijing
Not dedicated server related per se, but found this interesting about OVH. DC Virginia https://twitter.com/olesovhcom/status/846469094522212352 Octave Klaba / Oles on Twitter Octave Klaba / Oles on Twitter Octave Klaba / Oles on Twitter Octave Klaba / Oles on Twitter All via @olesovhcom And you think the link with AWS is fast now... wait until Virginia is up and running.
yes Virginia OVH ! Looking forward to OVH US West Coast myself - it's in middle of Asia and Europe evenly
The way their going, it's probably in the planning phase. Virginia first because it's a hub for some of the largest areas and businesses in the US - DC, Philly, NYC.... plus the US GOV. I wouldn't doubt that that they're going to start going after some US GOV contracts.
@eva2000 just checked my email.... LOL!!!! Looks like it's Portland, OR. OVH News - Global IaaS Leader OVH Continues North American Deployment Plan, Bringing Innovative Green Data Centers to the US Looks like a Pipe goes from Portland to Fresno to Sydney.
Just an FYI Enterprise SP-128 with the Intel Xeon E5-1650v3 - 6c/12t - 3.5 GHz/3.8 GHz is actually an Intel Xeon E5-1650v4 Edit: Well it appears that I have v3 when looking at the control panel, but the test pdf I received says v4. Won't know for sure until I install the OS.
I hope it's v4. Showing v3 in the control panel. I'll check it when I install centos on the server later today.
I got a pdf for the server which shows what they tested (first time I ever got one of those) showed the v4 processor tested.
It's called the "server_certificate". Thought I got a free cert with the server! Until I opened it. I guess it's the French translation of certification. Anyway, can't wait to fire it up and test it out. 1.2TB of NVMe.
