    Hello,

Do you guys have experience like this below:

    1. purchase one OVH dedi in SG DC [SP-32-S] install centos7 (OVH template) with custom partition.

    2. after that restart the server

    3. show error "i8042: No Controller Found"

i have to reboot several time to find out the problem until in choose from IPMI using "OVH Kernel" then my server boot up and can be ping.

    cheers,

what linux kernel you use ? OVH CentOS kernels default to custom OVH GRS custom kernels unless you check box to use distro kernel. OVH GRS custom kernels are problematic so need to change to CentOS distro kernels see install instructions at Centmin Mod LEMP Stack Install Nginx on CentOS

You can try to change your OVH custom Kernel to original CentOS Kernel using guide at How to change default boot kernel permanently or temporarily on CentOS - Ask Xmodulo or reinstall OS with distro kernel instead

Also some OVH servers have hardware which only has drivers from OVH custom kernel i.e. Intel D-15xx servers so distro kernel might not have the supported hardware drivers so you need to install those yourself.

Also try installing with standard partitioning instead and see if it works could be partition issue ?

    1. i use OVH centos7 template from their ISO list originally.

The kernel show this version when its happen:

    CentOS Linux 7 (Core)
    Linux hostname.tld 4.9.58-xxxx-std-ipv6-64 #1 SMP Mon Oct 23 11:35:59 CEST 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

    2. what i did for change is the custom partition only:

    / = the rest partition
    /swap = 4GB

    3. this is only happen on OVH-SG DC, i have several server in France location and Germany never have this issue.

    4. i'm going to test again with OVH-SG testing fresh install now...

    update later...

that is OVH custom kernel which is what you DO NOT want to use. You want to use CentOS distro kernel which for CentOS 7 is 3.10 based kernel. You should always use CentOS distro kernels

    i do

Allways hardware stress test a server when you have this kind of problems with a freshly ordered server with fresh installation.

If the stress test is fine, you can continue looking further.

With a problem. Without a mentionable hardware test report, the helpdesk will always say.
    Nothing wrong, right.

Or hardware is fine, must be software, and because you are responsible for software. Nothing wrong, right.
