Wow OVH will be growing even more with 400 million Euro funding OVH Gets €400M in Financing to Support Global Expansion. That brings OVH's total funding to ~US$733 million according to https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/ovh-com

OVH has raised €400 million (approximately $457 million USD) in a funding round to support its strategic development and global expansion over the next five years, the company announced Thursday.

JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A. (Paris Branch), CIC Nord Ouest, and Banque Commerciale du Marché Nord Europe participated in the round. The funding is provided in the form of an RCF line of credit. JPMorgan Chase also led the funding of a $600 million line of credit for Dropbox in March.

The Group now has more than one million customers worldwide, and generated nearly €400 million in revenue in 2016/2017, according to the announcement.

FYI, OVH was started in 1999 with just $4000 dollars European tech unicorn OVH opens APAC HQ in Melbourne

OVH, which already has 5000 customers in the Asia-Pacific region that are predominantly Australian businesses, was founded in 1999 by Octave Klaba with only $4000 and has remained a family-owned business in Roubaix, France.

Mr Klaba and his family still own 80 per cent of the business, which was valued at more than €1 billion in 2016.

Not sure I would agree with that considering some of the other competitors in the space... Amazon, Microsoft, etc. all offering cloud offerings and make OVH look like a penny candy store.

As an OVH fan, I'm glad to see expansion. More datacenters around the globe means faster communications within the OVH network. They should get into the CDN game and launch a competitor to Cloudflare.

ah I was referring the normal web hosts that aren't Amazon, Microsoft, Aliyun etc. But yes looking forward to OVH US West Coast data center - I'm moving in ASAP

Should be interesting to see what direction OVH takes with this new infusion of money. Cheaper prices / more services... I don't think prices can get any cheaper.

The tech enthusiast was born in Poland in 1975, and by the early-90s he had seen the fall of the Berlin Wall, moved to France and studied at the Icam School of Engineering in Lille, training in the art of management within large-scale mature industries. But as is often the case, his career took a turn into entrepreneurialism.

“While at Icam, I spent my nights creating web pages, and when my American hosting space had no more storage left for my data, I immediately booked a flight to the US,” he explains.
