For Wordpress user uploaded images the webP express plugin outlined at Wordpress - Installing WebP Express Wordpress Plugin on Centmin Mod Nginx can be used. But if you use Cloudflare in front, no need or is optional as best as Cloudflare can conditionally convert and serve webP images on the fly to your visitors without having you to save a webP version of your files locally and use up more disk space.

    1.17.x Cluster
    10.3.x Cluster & Redis
I create an Image, save it, go to kraken.io, set it to expert savings 65% wait a bit. Download optimized image and use WebP Express with an extra installed Yum on my Centos. That gives me the best result. Free of charge.
    Code (Text):
    yum install libwebp-tools

Install that and you can select the best option in WebP Express.

I use Free Cloudflare for some sites and no problem with WebP, so no need to get a Pro or higher plan. :)
