Ovh is the internet provider. Not the server manufacturer. If you can't find the specific drivers. Ask OVH. They brought the server once

    What about

    Getting Started with IPMI
How to Install an OS with IPMI

If you have IPMI access you can do pretty much anything you can do like if you had physical access to the server - including configuring disks and raid but you'd have know what to do system admin wise. That's why OVH is cheap - you do all the work and they only provide the hardware/connectivity.

However, on Twitter OVH replied to say Advance 2 OVH server has hardware compatibility issues with CentOS 7 so even if you could install CentOS 7, you may have issues.

Yeah I checked, OVH Rise, Advance and Infra servers don't seem to list CentOS 7 anymore so maybe some change in the hardware they use is incompatible with CentOS 7. Their Gaming servers like AMD Ryzen 3600/3800X with ECC ram do list CentOS 7 though.

I have had 0 issues, with my 15 Advance 2 servers. They are all fine and all work perfectly, I dont know why they removed it. Also, I have no knowledge in installing it in IPMI. you can check my reply above on my experience on that. Nothings working

Server hardware parts can change over time which is what I suspect happened now i.e. motherboards including drive controllers/drivers and drives themselves or network card/NIC models etc.

    Yup exactly that.

I was reading about how OVH provides servers to help forum members.
Since no brands are mentioned, during the OVH ordering process.
And I have no experience with OVH.

It seems you are getting guaranteed specifications, not parts.

    For example:
It could be NIC 1 from Intel today and NIC 101BGD from Realtek tomorrow.
And Raid controller A today but Raid controller Z on friday.

On the exact same OVH Advance 2 server.

This makes it extremely difficult to search for the relevant drivers if OVH does not disclose this.

Apart from the fact that every motherboard from every supplier has its own branding on IPMI and it is therefore almost impossible to give specific advice.

The only solution is to grab a certified RHEL 7 server from a renowned brand.
Just like: Dell PowerEdge, IBM/Lenovo ThinkSystem etc.

There you get the guarantee that every server with the same server brand name.
Always has the same parts, same specs.

And most importantly it is guaranteed to work 100% with EL 7.

It seems OVH doesn't support CentOS 7 install anymore, most of the listed server if not all.

Yeah noticed that a few weeks ago - must of changed hardware components which make CentOS 7 incompatible :( Could be network adaptor driver or something ?

Unfortunately, right now development is slowed as busy with private paid client work and my mum is due for spinal surgery this month so preoccupied right now.
