    Hello everyone,

I have hosted many websites for the past 10 years, But always with cpanel

I'm looking for a free alternative cpanel to play around with on my home server and host a couple websites.

The fact that Centmin mod has no GUI makes me a little nervous since i'm not professional at using the ssh terminal, but i will try my best

Hopefully, i can get the hang of this and start hosting my own little website from my home, I don't want to host from a company because i want to learn, and from home is easy at the moment,

I have installed CentOS and the latest stable Centmin Mod, and now i see the terminal screen!

So my next step is to read?
Getting Started Guide - CentminMod.com LEMP Nginx web stack for CentOS

seems like i got a long way to go!

Welcome! I recently made the switch from WHM/cPanel.
It was very daunting at the beginning but the tools that George (eva2000) has compiled are awesome!
I am still very much a beginner and I'm just learning the ropes...I post on these forums far to much but there is always someone to answer :)

Good luck, I know you can do it!

P.S. One of the hardest parts for me after switching from WHM/cPanel was setting up databases. This tool makes it a little easier: https://community.centminmod.com/threads/mysqladmin_shell-sh-shell-based-addon.543/
Importing/backing up databases still feels a little weird for me; I messed it up once :)

No need for any control panel with Centminmod, just use the command line and Evas menus, it doesnt take much to get to grips with it

Just use the command line for MYSQL - Its pretty easy really especially backups

I did it!!! i was able to get my xenforo forum up and running using the command line for everything,

I felt overwhelmed at the beginning, but i am getting the hang of this command line thing and linux, I finished at step 11.

I am slowly learning. I still have to get the email working and backups. That's it i think, and later i will try to add more than 1 domain on my server.

Now i have a small forum running from an old desktop computer using centos and centmin mod. It is so cool. This will give me experience in linux and managing my own server and if it breaks i don't have to worry about it because it's just for fun.

i am so proud of myself, someday i will be a great linx server manager. It is my goal to become great at liunxu and centmin mod

    Thanks everyone for the help
