The domain transfer was completed today to namecheap, so I created an AAAA record with cyprinidae.utahfishkeepers.us pointing to the IPV6 address. Now my site is down. I changed it from cyprinidae.utahfishkeepers.us to just utahfishkeepers.us and the site is still down. How do I fix it?

I didn't realize that it needed both. Thanks. One more question, should the record point to the domain utahfishkeepers.us or the host name cyprinidae.utahfishkeepers.us?

it's for which ever you want to be using IPv6 which is usually just your domain name NOT main hostname

all domains need DNS A record at least otherwise your web site won't work and resolve when you type it in your browser

    • main hostname needs DNS record i.e. A record
    • subdomains need DNS record i.e. A or CNAME i prefer A
    • domain needs DNS record i.e. A record

I know, but should the A record have just the domain, or the main hostname? My site is still down.

A record is the IP address you want to point the domain name too. So a DNS A record is a pairing one 1 domain or subdomain name to 1 IP address. The main hostname is just a subdomain.

    • domain.com needs DNS A record
    • sub.domain.com needs DNS A record where it could be main hostname setup for Centmin Mod

I am now using cloudflare DNS and my site is up, but i am not getting test emails i sent to my @utahfishkeepers.us account. It says I need an MX record. How do I create one and fix it?

You must have an A record for cyprinidae.utahfishkeepers.us pointing at the VPS IP (IPv4).
In addition you must do an A record for your utahfishkeepers.us and the WWW version of the domain pointing at the VPS IP. You need to do the same for the AAAA records (IPv6) using the IPv6 address that was provided to you.
You will also need to create an MX record using cyprinidae.utahfishkeepers.us as the MTA server.

I am still having trouble getting IPv6 set up. It said on a website I used to check it that there is a record for utahfishkeepers.us, but there wasn't an IPv6 web server and there wasn't a record for www. Should I add records for www and cyprinidae?
