    Just a noob but let me drop a line of what im using for my first vps
    all free
    ping and http interval 1m i use Port Monitor - Website and server monitoring made simple!
    Cpu / Memory / disk im using Cloud-based Monitoring Service for Servers and Websites, IT Infrastructure Monitoring - Anturis ( easy install from cli just copy past )

    Now im talking with 1 vps .... humm create account for every next vps install just dont work... what a mess for manange.

    But im search for same functions and get all vps together ... but not to expensive....

    I have test boundary i like interface very cool but i unistall to try other and remove the agent ... i try install again but now give a message that cannot start agent... test in the next round

    So for monitoring a web url, how do you validate the website is actually up? For instance. My vB forum went down last week and the page was displaying, however, the database had crashed and key information was missing from the thread so technically the URL was available, but not all the information.

    most paid monitoring services like pingdom and nodeping which i use at Uptime | Centmin Mod Community also have advanced checks which you can set to look for specific code, text or key phrases in your targeted web url. So if that text etc isn't found it can consider it down and alert you.

    nodeping's advanced http check by headers or specific string content in url

    For server is up/down check I personally use the https://www.alertra.com/ service for about 8 month. Previously I was using the pingdom for about 3-4 years on my 4 website so i'm happy for now with alertra because it supports the mobile phone calling when website down :)

    P.S: Of course it is paid version and i pay about 10$ monthly for 4 website. Check interval 1 min, and string check on my some pages. Not ping.
