Wordpress Why Centminmod default homepage after installing with option 22

    Hi

    Right after installing centminmod, I ran option 23 and then 22 to create a Wordpress site. Then I access the host ip. It is not WP but centminmod default homepage. I looked through
    Getting Started Guide and forum but nothing found. I think I didnt 100% understand the vhost thing, did I? Please Kindly help. Thank you.

    BTW, I access via host IP address. And domain is not pointed to host ip. I am testing migration before change my domain DNS. Thanks.

    When you install Centmin Mod it's setup a main hostname nginx vhost host for server which is where Nginx default install index page is shown. Accessing server via IP address will show that page and it's correct and should be left as is as the main hostname site is also used for statistics pages outlined here. When you create a new Nginx vhost site via centmin.sh menu option 2, 22 or nv commands, you have a separate Nginx vhost directory structure. The differences are outlined on official Config file page and at Getting Started Guide step 1 and bottom of that page here.
    If your site domain name when visited redirects to main hostname and default nginx index page, then that is usually due to the main hostname being same as the site domain name which is incorrect as they need to differ.

    If you want to preview newdomain.com on new centminmod server without updating DNS, on Windows PC edit your windows HOSTS file at c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts (see guide at Modify your hosts file | Knowledge Center | Rackspace Hosting or install Hostman app HostsMan - abelhadigital.com which can manage the file too and allows easy dns flushing when you make changes to the hosts file.

    c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts contents to preview without DNS update
    Code:
    centminmodserver-ip-address newdomain.com
    to disable preview comment it out and flush dns for your system
    Code:
    #centminmodserver-ip-address newdomain.com
    Hostsman app to flush dns and edit the c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts file

    Should I redirect traffic from accessing centminmod default page? Thanks.

    no that will break all statistics pages accessed via default main hostname/ip
