MariaDB 10.1.16 was recently released and it added a new option for MariaDB systemd service ProtectHome=true for CentOS 7 systems only (doesn't not apply to CentOS 6). This caused the Centmin Mod defined custom tmpdir path in /etc/my.cnf to prevent MariaDB server from starting up or restarting it's service. Centmin Mod 123.09beta01 was updated with workround outlined at Beta Branch - set MariaDB 10.1 ProtectHome=false for CentOS 7 systemd in 123.09beta01 | Centmin Mod Community Re-running updated centmin.sh will auto apply the workaround fix to your server. But you can also do it manually via setup and create file at /etc/systemd/system/mariadb.service.d/protecthome.conf with contents of Code (Text): [Service] ProtectHome=false then run Code (Text): systemctl daemon-reload systemctl restart mysql This would only apply to CentOS 7 and Centmin Mod 123.09beta01 installs which use MariaDB 10.1 branch. Centmin Mod 123.08stable is still on MariaDB 10.0.x branch which doesn't have this problem unless you upgraded to MariaDB 10.1.
