Do you mean this thread https://community.centminmod.com/threads/free-yourdomain-com-email-accounts-alternatives.280/?

    I still use
Google Workspace for all important domains and Zoho Mail and MXRoute for less important domains - meaning domains that I don't use their @domain email address to sign up for critical services i.e. web hosting, domain registrars etc etc

Oh you mean for outbound email sending in web apps? I've only ever used Amazon SES for that on blogs, forums etc https://community.centminmod.com/threads/amazon-aws-ses-smtp-transactional-email-info.13842/ - better email deliverability so AWS can handle all the email spam/block list requested removals etc etc + better security when behind Cloudflare as hosting own email will leak your real server's IP address one sent email headers which defeats the purpose of Cloudflare protecting your site and hiding your server's real IP address.

And if you had mailinabox as a separate server you'd still have an exposed IP and attackers can just try to take down your mail server. Then you'd want to get DDOS protection for that separate mail server and then for hosting own mail you want anti-virus/malware scanning and that uses server resources, so you end up upgrading the server. Cumulatively, you'd end up with costs that probably surpass just using Amazon SES :)

    I think @rdan use/used mailinabox

    yes for apps

yes I have a separate server and IP for mail server.

I don't know why but all my emails which are sending to gmail are going to spam.

I was some tests and it looks ok, but still my emails are going to spam

    https://www.mail-tester.com/ show me 9.5 of 10 score.

I am using Mail in a box for a few small, non profit projects.
But can't recommend it. The software is fine.

Although these days you spend way too much time, asking and requesting ISP's to whitelist your mail server ip (again and again), as once again your mail doesn't arrive because of IP reputation.

It is almost akin to a vendor lock. You have to use a well-known mail provider (Google, Microsoft or Amazon based). Otherwise you cannot be sure that legit mail will arrive. And that doesn't actually make any sense.

This is actually also applicable for Mailcow and other self-hosted mail software with its own ip address.

Yeah Mxroute is nice for cheap forum mails like news of the week, password resets etc.

For a money site with a nice profit, I would always go for a solution from the big 3. Given the above provider/ip reputation.

I'm now using MXRoute, which is much easier and has better deliverability.

Been with both MXRoute and Privatemail for over a year now, not had a single problem with IP reputation.

Both supports are very good, privatemail is very quick (within the hour) to reply to tickets
