Yes I read this news yesterday.
But I'm pretty safe, only leak was their WP site or Forum and February 20 is the only day their ISO was infected which I didn't download.

I used to use ubuntu but the standard bulk that comes with it annoys me (e.g amazon etc.) and I prefer gnome over their unity interface so I switched to debian a month ago or so and I love it! :)

Ugly? I have gnome 3 and a custom theme installed, I love it actually ;)
You can also get kde or something else if you don't like gnome

Too much stuff on the desktop. I like my desktop to be minimal, only important folders.
I have shortcuts setup for everything I use and use multiple workspaces/screens ;)
But that comes down to personal preference.

For servers, Debian or CentOS... Desktop linux on home gears is for me Gentoo, Archlinux or Manjaro .. For the most part I'm using openbox.

@RoldanLT If you really need to run a Windows app, what do you personally use? Wine or Virtualbox?

    Wine is really fine.
Virtual Box for temporary apps :).
