Linode Linode users - thought about alternatives ?

    With the exception of the attack.. I'm really impressed with the speed of Linode. My XenForo forum on my 2 CPU core runs amazing. I had to go with the 2 CPU because of disk space.

    If anything, it'll be cheaper for them.

    Bandwidth gets a lot cheaper at scale, and there is a lot of complexity managing large numbers of upstream providers. Both in automation complexity and human time-costs.

    Why you don't use the cloudflare for ddos attacks ?
    I think it is easiest solution for now if your server and network is well.

    wouldn't have helped in this case as DDOS attackers were going after Linode's network and upstream providers so any downtime would affect all Linode VPS servers regardless of what was in front protecting the web site i.e. Cloudflare etc

    Ah ok i understand that now, you have experiencing problem about ddos attacks to all Linode's network. So you should look another provider you are right :)

    I thought about going to a different provider, but the effort to do that, and the fact that any provider can be ddos'ed in the same exact way changed my mind.

    I'm looking for Tokyo Solid VPS provider, sadly Linode doesn't offer that location anymore.
    Any alternative with similar performance?

    when did Linode remove Tokyo ? was thinking of that location too !

    They didn't remove but they are out of stock long time ago, until now.

    What do you think about the new dedibox xc 2016? 16go ram 250ssd bandwith 1gbit/sec unlimited trafic for les than 20 €? It's dedicated server. Your advice will help me to choose.

    French location suited for you ? too slow that xc 2016 with avaton, probaby better is the dedibox classic 2015 on specs Dedibox® Classic 2015 - Online.net Comparisons Comparison table for dedicated servers offers - Online.net But never used online.net so no recommendations there.

    Yes french location is perfect for me. Do you think ovh cloud or linode 2go will be faster?

    Within that price range 2GB linode will be slower as only has 2 cpu cores and they're clocked lower. Dedibox® Classic 2015 - Online.net will still be faster cpu wise than 4GB Linode due to clock speed and dedicated resources but disk I/O performance will be slower than 4GB Linode.

    I've moved all my clients for the exception of a few to Linode and have had zero issues, support is awesome and VM's are very fast. I currently have a total of 163 VM's with Linode and not a single second of downtime has been recorded ever since the migration from Vultr to Linode. I can't say enough good things about Linode..

    in deed it is and im only 1 person managing / maintaining them all. most of them have multiple WordPress installs on them. - I guess im an army of 1 lol!

    Very impressive! That sounds like quite a bit of work, though.

    Is there a particular reason you keep them separated (for the most part) instead of running them all on one large VM or dedicated server?
