Going to be interesting to see how it performs compared to their xen hosts and DigitalOcean's KVM.

So enlighten me on this. Is there a purpose, or a good reason to use a high end VPS as a host machine for a number of KVM instances? Wouldn't a dedicated server make more sense? Or am I missing the boat on this?

Or is the point that their VPS nodes they offer to customers can now be KVM virtualized instances, rather than Xen?

I don't mind sharing my ignorance of virtualization platforms. :censored:

yeah i think KVM > Xen so in time :)
? i think they're dedicated servers used for KVM host machine, not VPS within a VPS.

Oh, I get it now. They are offering (and eventually switching?) from Xen virtualization to KVM virtualization.

I didn't realize that there could be such a difference in performance between the different flavors.

Are there any advantages that Xen provides that KVM doesn't have?

Linode with KVM. Wow, thanks for nice information you have here.

In my opinion, KVM has many advantages in terms of business for Linode. Higher max RAM is always one interesting thing for any VPS provider. Other advantage would be bigger market with Windows support. As we know XEN PV is not compatible with Windows.

I'm using it now, Live server.
    1 x 4GB Nginx/PHP
    1 x 2GB Mysql/Memcached

All Singapore server and using KVM :).
Converting a 4GB plan takes 7 minutes only.

I've done it on two of my Linode/all Production Server.
2GB plan takes 3 minutes and 4GB plan takes 7 minutes.
