I use gmail accounts for my websites following this pattern:

    domainname@gmail.com

I've been reading some of the posts on keeping email out of spam but they seem particular to sending email from your own domain - user@domainname.com

One thing that helped with the Gmail situation was renaming my Digital Ocean droplet to a domain name so that a PTR record was created. And that's great for running one site per droplet. It seems to help for running multiple sites on a droplet as well.

Are there suggestions/best practices for handling gmail accounts in these situations?

    Thanks!

Spend $5 a month on Gsuite and host your email with gmail.

Ideally, you should send email from your own domain as you have more control over setting up SPF, DKIM & DMARC as opposed to @gmail.com email sending for site related emails and then follow outlined steps at https://community.centminmod.com/th...ver-email-doesnt-end-up-in-spam-inboxes.6999/

Google Apps is one way for @yourdomain.com email sending - you can even sign up one domain and use domain aliases so you only pay for 1 account for multiple domains. Others mentioned at https://community.centminmod.com/threads/free-yourdomain-com-email-accounts-alternatives.280/

Appreciate the feedback. I figured hosting your own was the correct answer but wanted to confirm whether or not there was something I missed.
