What's the special part of it other than keeping the passwords?

I don't use also any plugins....

Nice functions are the clear memoery after x seconds after copy of the username or password or on exit of the program and the option to open a second virtual desktop to login on the keepass and that's make it harder for the loggers :)

Also when you don't have to save any passwords on browser as you can just click Ctrl+Alt+A to auto fill the user and pass and login for you :)

Tools -> Options -> Enter master key on secure Desktop

    and

double click on an entry and go to Auto type tab and select:

Enable auto type for this entry

    and

    Two channel auto type obfuscation

    :)

For the past 5 years never for me.....

Don't think such issues exists for keypass but to be 100% sure just take a backup of it every x days :)

I deleted my lastpass account and I'm now using KeePass 2 without the plugins

I think I'm getting the hang of it. It's not as convenient to use as Lastpass but at least it's more secure.

I am willing to give this a try but I use a Macbook Pro almost exclusively for work (and Ubuntu as my desktop work computer).

What are my options there with Keepass 2?

Not sure if they are the best options but you can use keepass2 for Ubuntu as it is included and you can install it using apt....

    Password manager

For mac not sure also but you may try the included iCloud Keychain....

That is what it looked like to me as well.

I trust 1Password more than the iCloud Keychain personally. I'll stick with that for the time being I guess.
