I know Centmin Mod is supposed to be installed on a fresh system but I will ask the question anyway....

I want to run my own email server for my domains, might as well use the server I have rather than pay someone else to manage email. Yes I do know about the free services, not interested in them due to restrictions and manageability.

I am looking at iRedMail as a simple to install email system however this presents some issues. iRedmail installs yum packages for everything and I like Centmin Mod's way of doing things way better. Last night I installed a test system on one of my Droplets and am trying to "upgrade" php, nginx, mariaDB etc to Centmin Mod's way of doing things.

Would it be better to install iRedmail then remove php, nginx etc and allow CMM to install those or does CMM remove yum packages and replace them with source stuff?

I know this is outside the box but would welcome any input if anyone has any....

    Cheers

I wouldn't do it unless you know what you're doing. Last year I did look at iredmail but there's too many possible conflicts with Centmin Mod install - none of which I have time to look at or support.

I actually have my own server now running under Debian 7 but am moving to Centos to take advantage of CMM. iRedmail would just make it easier for a quick install versus manually installing everything. Understand all the conflicts, if I can't suss them out I'll just install manually, was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions :)

I'm using MiaB instead of IRedmail :).

George, yea I know about them but not really interested. I need big storage and emailing capability due to my business plus all sorts of different email addresses for various campaigns etc so hosting my own makes is easier and more cost effective.

Roland - MiaB? Do tell :)

Mall In A Box is ubuntu so he uses it on separate server from Centmin Mod, not for CentOS. Yeah I understand. I just never ever want to deal with support email related delivery issues within Centmin Mod .. not for free anyway. Just no time for it :)

Understand completely, I wouldn't want to support email for other users either. :)

Just looked at MiaB and, like you said, it's Ubuntu. Close but no go. Looks like a manual install again.....
