UpCloud or Linode

    For a 2GB plan located in London would you recommend UpCloud or Linode. I know UpCloud is double the price but after the best performance and uptime.

    As they're both hourly providers, you can take both for a spin and see for yourself as well. CPU wise you may get faster cpus on Upcloud depending on the server.

    Linode.
    You could do a lot with the saved money.
    I.e. spin another server in another country (redundant if uptime is important).
    Buy flowers for your girlfriend etc.

    I am using Upcloud if Linode does not have the preferred location.
    And / or / if the location or an EU company, as Upcloud is, is a hard core requirement.
    I.e. Amsterdam Netherlands, Finland etc which Linode does not have.

    For example for the GDPR regulations.

    Is UpCloud worth the $40 compared to Linode's $20 for the 2GB plan since it's double the price? If it is I will go with UpCloud.

    Just as @eva2000 already wrote earlier, spin both servers. Review them for the upcoming months and decide. No one can give you the perfect provider, but you. it is very personal. Motto: Try and decide.

    On another note what are the best tools for testing, speed tests etc to run on the server?
