Upgrade MariaDB Old user but new member with MariaDB upgrade issue :)

Hello everyone,

Just joined a few minutes ago, but I'm an old user, have been with Centminmod for around years with a few websites installed, and never had a hard issue (except now, that is why I'm registering this forum

).

I am experiencing an issue with the MariaDB upgrade, currently running on 10.4.x, and have attempted to upgrade it to 10.5.x, but the service failed to start and can't be started anymore. Running on AlmaLinux 8, NginX 1.29, PHP PHP 8.3.9.

Ah i see, MariaDB 10 YUM repo for older versions was deprecated and Centmin Mod did update fix this if you kept up with updating Centmin Mod branch versions i.e. 132.00stable or 140.00beta01. If you didn't keep up with updates, then you might have uninstalled MariaDB 10.4 without a proper path to update to MariaDB 10.5.

Easiest quick fix right now is revert to MariaDB 10.4 first but you need to be updated Centmin Mod 132.00stable or 140.00beta01 branch first so you can re-install MariaDB 10.4.

where one YUM transaction id might be related to MariaDB package uninstalls/removals. Keep in mind the transaction id.

Ok with better understanding of your issues, I wrote a guide you can follow to manually fix the issues

Restore Centmin Mod MariaDB 10.4 from failed 10.4 to 10.5 migration run via centmin.sh menu option 11 submenu option 9

The issue is if folks do not update Centmin Mod versions frequently, they miss out on update fixes like when MariaDB 10.4/10.5 YUM repo urls are deprecated and need updating.

So first thing to do is update to Centmin Mod 140.00beta01 as per https://community.centminmod.com/th...alinux-rocky-linux-support.25572/#post-100211

Now manually fix and restore MariaDB 10.4 first as failed update removed 10.4 without being able to update to 10.5 properly.

This solution uses YUM history to undo the failed transaction and reinstalls MariaDB 10.4 with corrected repository URLs and working Centmin Mod MariaDB 10.4 first.

Now that you have MariaDB 10.4 installed again and Centmin Mod 140.00beta01 updated with fixes for deprecated MariaDB 10.4 and 10.5 YUM base urls fixes. You can try centmin.sh menu option 11 submenu option 9 upgrade again from 10.4 to 10.5 and then do submenu option 10 upgrade after for 10.5 to 10.6 update.
