I am running Centmin mod on my test VPS server (Centos 7) for a couple of months now and it works great.
Using this script is easy and saves me a lot of time as most software I need is preconfigured and tested !

I am testing IPBoard 4.1 and will soon convert my existing Vbulletin 3.8 forum running on an (old) VPS with centos 5.11 and Apache.

On my test VPS when using "yum check-update" I see that there are 229 packages excluded due to repository priority protections. I know that the Centmin packages are not updated by yum, but are there really 229 packages handled by Centminmod ? Is there a way I can check which packages are excluded by Yum ?

Is there a "system upgrade manual" available with a description how to keep my Centos 7 installation up-to-date with system updates and centmin-mod updates without breaking the centmin-mod installation ? Specially with security updates it is important to know that packages need to be updated. How do you keep all packages up-to-date without too much manual investigation all the time ?

welcome @SeaTea to Centmin Mod Community :) Glad to hear Centmin Mod has been useful :D

For IPBoard 4.1 might want to check out @Jimmy's thread at IP.Board - IPB v4.1.x Files | Centmin Mod Community

see YUM page at Third Party YUM Repos with Centmin Mod - CentminMod.com LEMP Nginx web stack for CentOS for how Centmin Mod uses YUM priorities to manage 3rd party repos and how you can disable priorities plugin to see what was excluded

Getting Started Guide step 12 ;) although all steps are worth reading ;) For Centmin Mod Nginx and PHP-FPM it's source compiled so updates done via centmin.sh menu option 4 and 5 respectively.

Threads you might want to participate in ;)

Threads to read, pages to bookmark and threads to watch/subscribe to get to know Centmin Mod would include:

When I disable the priorities plugin I see no extra packages. Should I see those or is the warning not really a warning and are all my installed packages updated when updating via "yum update" ??:
So what are these 229 packages ? Installed by me and not updated, or also available from other repos and updated from the repos with high priority ?

yes that's normal as excluded number includes packages you have NOT installed so if you haven't installed there will be no returned updates
