I have been using INIZ VPS for a while now. They have been serving me good so far but their specs are kinda limiting. I get 8GB RAM, 4 Cores and 250GB HDD storage for around 15USD per month. On top of that, they have OpenVZ virtualization which is generally not recommended in hosting world.

My server is running one Magento website and one WordPress website. In normal days, the server is more than enough for my usage but from time to time, we get traffic surges for days which makes the website very slow. For instance, recently, I got around 1500 users online on our Magento website and the website got unbearable.

I am planning to upgrade. The options I have looked upon so far are
    1. OVH Dedicated HOST-32L with 480GB x2 SSD RAID upgrade for 81USD (Xeon D-1520 4c/8t and 32GB RAM)
    2. OVH Dedicated SP-32 with 480GB x2 SSD RAID upgrade for 91USD (Xeon E3-1231v3 - 4c/8t and 32GB RAM)
    3. OVH Dedicated EG-16 with 480GB x2 SSD RAID upgrade for 85USD (Xeon E3-1231v3 - 4c/8t and 16GB RAM)
    4. OVH Cloud B2-15 for 56USD (15GB RAM, 4 vCores, 100GB Local SSD RAID)
    5. Linode 8GB VPS for 40USD (8GB RAM, 4 Cores, 192 GB SSD)

My sweet spot as far as my budget is concerned is around 50-60USD but if spending 80-90USD on OVH Dedicated is better then I am willing to spend that too but I believe that even the 40USD Linode 8GB is enough for my usage once it is even slightly optimized for performance.

Another advantage of going with Linode or OVH cloud is that I dont have to worry for backups and they have very easy UI to make snapshots and restore them. I am also open to other alternatives. I am also thinking about Amazon AWS but I have absolutely no knowledge about that so if anyone can shed some light on that.

Go with the OVH gaming servers.

Game servers | Dedicated Servers - OVH

Or if you need a little cheaper the soyoustart.com gaming servers.

The server for all your projects - So you Start

    They're very fast @ 4 GHz+.

The OVH gaming servers are a little more expensive but you get more HD space and newer CPU. The soyoustart gaming servers have the older chips and less HD space.

Soyoustart is owned by OVH. So, the servers are OVH servers.

Linode also has a faster connection. With the gaming servers above you're only going to get 250 Mbps network. I've never had a problem with the network on a busy site.

What is the advantage of going with gaming servers? Simply because they are cheaper because they are using desktop CPUs?

Soyoustart also has this: Server E3-SSD-2 - So you Start

Xeon E3, 32GB RAM, 3x 120GB SSD for 49USD. This seems like a better deal as compared to soyoustart gaming ones.

I like them because the price point is perfect for what you get. Also, the CPU speed is faster than the others.

I'm not a big fan of the OVH hosting level servers. The CPU is very slow. If you need the vRack then they're a good option.
SP-32 is a good server. It's fast and you get the 500 Mbps bandwidth.
EG-16 isn't bad either. Though, it's only 16GB of RAM. You're also paying for a vRack.
OVH cloud is nice, I have a VPS Cloud 3 which is nice, but obviously not a dedicated box.
    Linode is linode.

The other soyoustart server (E3) isn't bad either, but doesn't have a whole lot of storage - 3x 120GB.

It all depends on what you need.

I really like the gaming server's 4+ Ghz speeds. You can get a lot done with 4+ Ghz. ;)

I have been reading some reviews about soyoustart on webhostingtalk and reddit. Although the reviews are from 2014 and older, but they are all pretty bad.

You have to decide for yourself. If you're looking for a managed server, don't choose OVH or soyoustart. Probably a lot of the bad reviews are either:

    1. People who need constant support because they have no idea what they're doing.
    2. Hosting providers which lost a lot of business to OVH and they're deep discount prices, trying to bash OVH.

If you need constant support which isn't related directly to hardware or networking, don't choose OVH. When they say unmanaged, they mean unmanaged.

I've been a member of Webhostingtalk for awhile and I've seen both above plenty of times. Hosting providers need business, scaring customers is an easy way to get that business.

One thing I cant understand...why has OVH developed 3 different brands; OVH, soyoustart and kimsufi. Isnt it beneficial for them to give all the servers under one brand?

I have managed OVH's dedicated server for a friend for quite a while, and never needed any support so unmanaged is fine for me.

Secondly, do you think 250mbps bandwidth of soyoustart will be an issue?

I have no idea, you'd have to ask them why they have 3 brands.

I never had a problem with 250. Probably depends on the site you're running. Maybe @eva2000 would have an idea about bandwidth being he has a bunch of client servers.

You'd want a fatter pipe (network) than 250Mbps for higher concurrency loads. Though you can put Cloudflare in front of your OVH servers to make up for the slower 250-500Mbps.

You could up and downgrade Linode VPS servers, in minutes.
So you should test it with your traffic spikes, to find out what you exactly need,
    spec wise and price wise.

Start with the Linode 8 GB plan (you're probably thinking that it is sufficient) and upgrade if necessary.

I could notice a difference moving from a 24GB Linode to a Dedicated server at OVH (64GB Enterprise). Most of the difference I noticed was the time it took to upgrade/install add-ons on larger sites.
