Benchmarks VMHaus Benchmarks Various Configs

Ok, I think I may just have found my favourite new host. Here's a few benchmarks that I've run today on a $7 per month node.









That's a really good overall install time. However it did take me 3 attempts to actually install Centmin Mod because the network connection was lost twice. I contacted their support who responded almost immediately that they'd had 2 DDOS attacks in the morning but everything should be ok going forward. They were right and the install went ahead with no hitches giving the above results.

The detailed results from the benchmark script can be found here and also look really good to me. They compare very favourably to the Hetzner benchmark here especially when it comes to the PHP and Mysql benchmarks. Both instances are around the same price.

Looking forward to testing them over a longer period but it's a really good first impression.

 

Hah hah, I'd never even heard of NVMe until last week but the numbers certainly look good.

One more benchmark to go for the 4GB VMHaus instance and that's me done for a while. I may benchmark Hetzner at some point but you've already done that so I kinda already know the numbers. I'll be lurking around the CMS sub-forum to pick up some optimisation tips though.

I even found a use for my Google Cloud credit which was to run a Mautic instance on it. That coupled with Elasticmail's free 150k emails a month will do nicely.

 

Ok, so I'm going to test the 4GB instance as well. The only reason I'm doing this is because you get 50GB of disk space which is closer to the recommended specs here. The minimum disk space requirement is 30GB for KVM virtualisation and the recommended space is 60GB. I know I'll probably stick to the 2GB instance for just now but there's no harm in taking the higher spec instance for a test drive.

As you'd expect it's fairly nippy. You can find the full Centmin Mod benchmark here.

 

Is that the $120 promo machine? From that thread I found your summary comparison which makes VMHaus look really good in that context.

• $7 per month VMHaus 2GB 2 CPU installs in ~ 702 seconds
• $14 per month VMHaus 4GB 4 CPU installs in ~ 585 seconds

 

I haven't had time to do anything with it since I ran those initial benchmarks. I plan on moving a site over from Linode sometime next week hopefully. I've never migrated an SSL (Let's Encrypt) site in Centmin Mod, or ever actually, so I need to find time to read the documentation. Once that's done I'll provide a bit more feedback.
