    Tried but not liked.
You can sync folders from computer to cloud but if you uninstall google sync tool and then reinstall it again, and select same folder to sync, it will be sync it like new one. So you will end up with two same folder on cloud. So if you reinstall windows, you will have to delete sync folders on cloud and sync it again.

Also, you can softlink files to real cloud from sync cloud, and also move it to real cloud, but you can not do vice versa.

When file from sync cloud is linked to real cloud, on real cloud you do not know if file exist in sync cloud or it is just classic file in real cloud, so if you delete it (on sync or real cloud) you will delete it from both places.

All in all, not so good.

P.S. Real cloud - classic gdrive
Sync cloud - "my computer" place in gdrive

I've installed and am using this. Specifically for my images, and I've sync'd over 80,000 images to Google Photos over a couple of days, and it's working pretty well.
